Ok cool, just wondering if I need to get them sprayed with a better clear coating that has UV protection and will last. I know with most carbon fiber hoods that is highly suggested unless you want the hood to change color in a year or two.

I think the heat from the engine also exacerbates the problem. We've had quite a few carbon fiber bits and pieces installed on a few of our Civics that stay out in the sun and no fading issues at all.

Having seen these in person I would say these are along the quality level of Seibon but also much much cheaper. Not sure about which ones you have looked at but the ones I have seen online that are around $100 are knock offs and not real carbon fiber or are stick on caps and not true replacements. They usually are a false carbon with a clear gel coating over it which still looks nice but once you look at it up close you can easily tell its fake :( and also will not last near as long as real stuff. Seibon wants $300 for their real carbon caps, the only other ones that are 100% real I have come across are CF Spec Carbon which has theirs for $175.00 before shipping (though I have never dealt with them before so not sure on quality or customer support). Pro Civic usually has discounts for us forum peeps and they always have sales going on. Having bought several things from them and dealt with their customer support on the very few questions or issues I have had. I have to say they are a good choice and are rather competitive compared to other companies.
I agree you do have to see the product in person. We've tested so many items here from eBay and Amazon (to compare to what we sell)...and the pictures often do not represent what you actually get. I'm not saying it is always the case, but a lot of those vendors do not perform proper QA or even vet the product (they might have never even seen it). And like you mentioned, sometimes the fake CF is pretty hard to spot!

The forum discount also helps bring down the cost, and the product has free shipping as well :)

Yeah that does also cause issues but I just wanted to make sure :)

Thanks for posting. Glad you got the replacements already!

Also, I wanted to let you know one of our techs pulled me aside in regards to your mirrors we received back with the tiny white marks. He used a polishing/rubbing compound and they came right off. So it seems it was not really a defect, but maybe some sort of spray or something that hit the mirror after it was done being produced.

Ahhh, I used Meguiars detailer to see if it would come off. Did not have any polishing compound and it was hard to tell if it was on or in the clear coating. Thanks for getting it straightened out either way :) where can I locate the install instructions you mentioned?

Thanks,
R

I actually don't have access to them, but if you email [email protected] they can send you them. They go on just like the factory ones would.

Yes that helps, thanks :D. I think the factory ones are just the stick on covers that go over the OEM mirror cap. This does show how to remove the cap though so that works :)

Let me know if you're able to get it off. I tried using the same guide and I STILL can't remove the caps. They're hard as hell. I popped off the top 2 retaining tabs, but I can get the back retaining tab (which is facing up not down) and the side tab.

It will be a little bit before I mess with mine but I will post an update once I have them installed.

Any update? I tried to have a shop install mine and they don't fit properly. Pro Civic is sending me replacements, but they have severely understated the difficulty of removing the caps. Even the shop said they had problems doing it! Idk why they don't have an install video yet if it's so easy... @procivic are you guys gonna create an install video? I honestly rather remove my front bumper 50 times before I touch my mirror caps again...

Yes, we filmed the install video already. It will be up on our YouTube account most likely sometime next week. I'm sorry for the difficulties you encountered when installing these caps. We're going to take a look at the specific caps you received when they get back here to make sure they fit as they should.

What didn't fit exactly? Didn't line up? Too big or too small ect? It will be a bit before I put mine on my paint guy looked at them and said they need to be cleared for sure (nothing against Pro Civic as he was really impressed with the carbon and gel quality). He said the clear gel coating is good but in a year or two will have issues just like Seibon does. I'm waiting to install them when I get my spoiler and new front grille painted / cleared and installed.
