Thanks for great explanation and a very good viewpoint. The 44 is MSRP with some accessories and California tax. Leaning towards that and will probably go with Non enclosed shipment.
Honestly if it has some accessories and that price is tax already included that's a pretty good price for a brand new one here in Socal.

I thought msrp was 39.2k? 37k for black or red and other colors have a 400 dollar charge add up + destination fee which adds up to 39k? Ohio taxes are 7.5% in Columbus. Mine was about 44k total at the end of the day.

I don’t recall mid year increases (certainly may have occurred) but here is a 2020 and 2021 sticker.

As I said earlier I believe the price increase was announced shortly after I took delivery (late May). So maybe July when no one is paying attention anyway because we were all out enjoying the summer weather LOL. It's not like it was something unexpected, they've basically added 800-1000 to the MSRP every calendar year I think. What was the original MSRP in the US 34K?

I really don't think there were that many 2020s sold. With the pandemic and production issues there were several stoppages. I know my car sat at the loading dock here for several months before it was allowed to be shipped to the dealer.

Since there is no difference in the years other than paint, all they have to do is change the sticker to a new year and add another 1K to the price. (Leaving out the limited edition)

Its been a long and stressful Monday, need some guidance and recommendation on my next course of action.

Have been on the search for a CTR for some time now. Originally wanted white but been shifting back and fourth with colors.

Landed on something today

local - black - $47k OTD with some accessories. (All weather mats, mud flaps, wheel lock, wireless charger)

out of state - white - $44k OTD plus $2.1k for enclosed shipping from dealer to me. With less accessories.

I’ve been bouncing back and fourth. Pros and cons.

Definitely caving into the dealers mark up game by buying local. But less of a hassle and wait for me.

Get color that would work best for me but then having to go through the extra steps of registering and getting the car check out. Also having to work through shipping process.

Welcome to any tips or suggestions on what you would personally do.
I would fly to your destination and drive the car back. The CTR everywhere in the northeast region is MSRP.

Which part of the Northeast? New England dealers are asking $3-5K over for non-LEs.

I would highly suggest flying out to get your car though. I did so for pretty much all my vehicles in recent years. It's a nice way to get to know your car anyways :p
I did this for the very first time to obtain my R and it was a journey I won’t soon forget! Would totally do it again ?

I did a fly and buy for my car prior to my CTR. 2018 GTI, I flew from Houston, TX to Chicago, IL. It was a great trip and I saved tons of money even factoring the plain tickets for my wife and I and hotel/food/gas... Ig there is a deal to be had I would fly and buy any day of the week.
