Guys,
I need some advice. I am LEASING a 2016 EX-T (Cosmic Blue) and when doing a low speed turn, I was lazy and thought I could make it all the way but failed and put a hole in my current bumper (about a size of a quarter) with scrapes. Assuming (which I still believe is correct) that the turn-in inspection would tell me that I had to pay for a brand new bumper plus painting. Let me know if you disagree.
So, I found a bumper that was the same color for cheap and figured it was worth the risk to try it out. Attached is a picture and while it was far-from-perfect shape, after some sanding and polishing I think most of it looks to be in acceptable condition for a 3 year old.
The one problem that concerns me is the crease that you can see in the left part of the bumper as well as the tiny dent in the upper part where the angle is and you can see the odd reflection there.
So, it comes down to this. I'm looking for what makes the most sense. I will LIKELY Lease another Honda, so I'm hoping that I'll have $500 + $500 = $1,000 towards damages, but my guess is that the second $500 might just be a negotiating thing and who knows what else I'll be dinged for. I don't have TOO much invested in this bumper, so if its not easily fixable by a body shop and/or would just tell me to replace it I'm okay with that.
Should I go through the effort of installing this? Take it to a body shop first? Wait for the evaluation? I still have 8 months left to go so I DO have the advantage of time.
Thanks!
