No need to pay more for a approved car oil.

It is good. Yes, I've used it. I have a couple of Blackstone reports on it, though right now I'm running Mobil 1 5W-30 EP. The thing with Motul is that it sells in 5L containers whereas Mobil 1 sells in 5 qt. (4.73L) containers. So you actually get a bit more with Motul. Motul is also a Grade IV 100% synthetic base oil whereas Mobil 1 is a Grade III base oil derived from crude oil. https://www.twinoils.com/news/a-guide-to-base-oil-groups/#:~:text=Synthetic Base Oils-,Group IV,made from small uniform molecules. Does that actually make a difference in your engine? Probably not that much.

The thing I prefer about Mobil 1 is that it is much easier to source and I don't have to buy it online.

At the end of the day it will make zero difference,

If you have extra money to waste, buy the Mobil 1 and donate that extra money to a charity or homeless shelter

Mobil 1 is perfectly fine. As long as you change your oil on time. There is no extra benefit going to Motul.

With that being said, I understand the feeling to get the best stuff for our car as a car guy.

For daily driving, almost any 0W-20 oil will fit the application. The only time formulation matters is in Motorsports. However, I’ve used bobistheoilguy to get better answers about specific motor oils and run Ravenol which is full PAO.

bobistheoilguy is the only site to cover motor oils currently on the market.
