More Civic Type R Variants Are Coming!

Rally (gravel, sand, snow) is definitely better suited for AWD, but that's definitely not the common use of the street Type-R.

However, I am curious about the change back to AWD for Pikes Peak since the entire course is paved now. I'm sure it was warranted, or you guys wouldn't have done it, but can you give us some insight into that Kiwi?

Mainly for traction coming off the, (many), slow corners. That particular car was the first one built and very heavy as well so it helped. Finished second overall so something must have been right

Couple of things.

1. We knew that this 10th gen platform was capable of AWD. See the transmission tunnel?
2. Demand for the FK8 just dropped a little.
3. Will Honda send the hardcore version to the US or keep it exclusive for Japan and Europe?
4. AWD will most likely lap slower on the Ring due to weight. However, their potential buyers probably just tripled. It's about time Honda tried to go for that AWD market.
5. Honda sees this Type R as a long term project, unlike Integra Type R in 97-01.

Only issue is relocating the EPS Module.

There are aftermarket parts being made to allow AWD Capabikity for the SI and FK8
