This is how a 1.0L looks at the rear and bottom:

Honda Civic 10th gen @mods PREFIX for 1.0L? Center exhaust for 1.0L or invisable exhaust on some trims 2

I belive some N.American trim version have dual exhausts located at the corners but also out of sight?

This is how one looks modified (could be a 1.5L too with an invisable exhaust)

Honda Civic 10th gen @mods PREFIX for 1.0L? Center exhaust for 1.0L or invisable exhaust on some trims 4

This is what I have in mind if one must keep the muffler

But, is it possible and has anybody done this already?

Pictures are welcome! :)

The 1.5T sport executive also has a dual mufflers Hidden underneath .I got The 1.5T sedan it also has a dual Hidden exhaust. But there are replacement Parts available (eBay) to replace the rear black plastic trim with a dual exhaust opening.
You can fit The 1.5 sport rear plastic trim.Should fit .

I just found many nice modifications, absolute beauties l post later on.

However 2 issues will prevent me from ever doing this mod,
- certificates will not be given from the only exhaust specialist in Belgium that gives such certificates
- could be ignored: but it seems turbo engines don't like to many curves in the exhaust lines

different situation, the mufflers are located on the sides, so you just need to extend the muffler so they become visible to the outside world.

In the 1.0L version, as you can see on the pictures in my opening post, the muffler is located on the right corner and the endpipe directly after that.
If I want the endpipes to come out in the center, I would have to make a hard curve to go to the center, and than another hard curve to end in the center.
Those 2 curves are the reason I wont get a GOCA certificate from Skytune in Maldegem (as said, the only one in Belgium that is qualified to mod exhausts and give papers so you can pass MOT).

The sedan also has to make those curves .If you made them straight you would come out in the rear bumper. If you're keeping The OEM mufflers i don't see The need for a goca attest. The exits only get relocated.I also dont think Anyone on "de keuring" would know the exist arent OEM.

True.

But yeah, I want them to come out at the center, not just extended and simply straight out to the outside.
That's the difficulty here :)

Okay, my conclusion, sadly, its not good.

In Belgium (and Europe for that matter) we have very very strict rules regarding tuning and general modification on your vechicle.
Very short: you can't do ****! Or very limited mods.

Lowering/dropping your car for example is restricted to 11cm between the ground and car. (9cm in reality, there is some leverage).
Aftermarket LED bulbs are not allowed in Europe.
Air suspension and coilovers are not allowed.
Engine mods are forbidden of course (air filter might be allowed, but I'm not sure about that): aftermarket turbo, superchargers etc, basically anything that pumps up the horsepower.
Chiptuning is a greyzone however in Belgium.

Some mods are allowed if you have an official document wich you have to show at the yearly MOT inspection.
Coilovers are such a modification that is allowed as long as you have both documents: of the installation and of the manufacturer.

Exhausts, same thing.
Although some minor mods dont require a document, bigger ones do.

And therein lies my problem, what I want to mod to my exhaust is not possible according to the only exhaust tuning company in the company that is qualified to hand out official documents for the MOT inspection.
So basically I am stuck.

If he cannot or does not want to modify, logically he cannot give me the right papers, and thus its not legal...

The problem, I have a 1.0L Civic, its peppy enough with 130hp and 150 ft lb (but tunable to 150hp & 185 ft lb).
And that model has a single sided exhaust that is not visible:

My goal was to have the same look as the 1.5L that we all know.
I did discover some nice modifications on facebook, even in Italy, but mainly in Thailand they offer nice kits.

So it is possible to mod it to look like a 1.5L
Even keeping the stock muffler and working your way to the center.

But 2 corners and the placement of the endpipe is what I think is the main reason the exhaust tuner doesnt wanna start with this project.
When I asked what the specific reasons were, he replied in the lines of: 'there are hundreds of rules that must be followed'

I am not blaming him to be clear, he is just following the rules as they are, wich suck! :serious:

As @Hondanickx said, If I only wanted to extend the existing exhaust so it was visible outside, that would be no problem, I wouldnt even need papers for the MOT.

But I dont want that look.
Either the look of central pipes or nothing at all (as it is).

Damn shame but gotta live with it I guess.

Let this topic be a source of information for future owners who might have the same ideas for their 1.0L Civic :)

I dont wanna do it anymore for 2 reasons:
1. you need a certificate to do this mod and the only one that gives that certificate refuses to mod it
2. for the reason that its not good for the engine to make so many bends, the engine just is not made to have such a exhaust system, so he wont mod it

If I would do it, and the car goes into its future MOT inspections, they will demand to remove it and go back to original

It surprises me that in Spain that allowed, I dont know the MOT rules in Spain, but I guess in Spain its like in the most of Europe with strict rules about such modifications.
Or its illegal and the owner did it anyway.

The rules in the UK are far more relaxed on mods, mind you we won't be a part of Europe for much longer. If you want the look of the 1.5 and more power have you not considered trading the 1.0 for a 1.5 Sport or Sport Plus? Not sure if you are in a position to trade up but I love my 1.5 it has sporty looks and its reasonably quick whilst still giving great mpg. Real world testing in the UK has shown that the 1.5 actually achieves better fuel economy than the 1.0 despite the official mileage figures as published by Honda.

LooooL, just remove the rear part of the exhaust, store it for later, do whatever u want with the new exhaust and when the MOT Comes, with new cars its after 3 years , just put it back to stock, ist couple hours for two people… you are describing it like its some kind of crime to modifi your car in EU  just buy certified stuff or get your exhaust done by the shop with license if you are so afraid of being told that you have to change something on the car for it to pass MOT :confused1:

Yeah the 1.5L was certainly a consideration, I know all the facts you state of the 1.5L
But now, I am not interested any more in the 10th Civic.

And btw we were discussing exhaust mods on the 1.0L specifically here...

I testrode the Supra 2.0 and 3.0.
I testrode a Stinger 2.0T
And I testrode a RC 300h.
One of those will be my future car for sure.
Although I am quietly looking out for how the 11th gen Civic will turn out...but being front wheel drive only, I'll be passing on it.

let me repeat, again!

1.
Here in Belgium, there is 1 SHOP ONLY that is allowed to do these CERTIFIED modification on exhaust systems!
If he refuses, you are on your own.

I did not say or describe its a crime, I just state the facts when you dont follow the rules, its that simple really...
But dont overdramatize what I said, you are the one insinuating with the heavy words, not me! ?

2.
'looooooooooooooooool, just remove blablabla....'
Its not a 'just to this just do that' kind of job if your 'modified' exhaust line goes further than just the end pipe, if you dont have a bridge, you will be working hard and than you are further away from the ease you make it sound.

I dont wanna spend 'a couple of hours' underneath my car swapping out exhaust each time I go to MOT and involve a mate in the proces of doint it! ?

If thats your solution, fine for you, but its not and never gonna be mine.

In the end, there is only one solution for the 1.0L if you dont like the exhaust lines, just trade it for a 1.5L.

And for fucks sake, I didnt ask for all of this discussion, I am not even interested any more with the Civic.
Civicdemata should have let this topic dead ?

I totally agree with that

as I said in the beginning, the car choice wasn't 100 per cent my sole decision
