I just picked up a new to me 2017 touring sedan last weekend, and am absolutely loving it. The first few days, it was fun to see what it could do, but clearly took a hit in fuel economy. I’ve found if I keep the rpms under 2000, I can get between 40-41.5 mpg on my daily commute. My previous ‘11 Sonata limited would get 26-27 pretty consistently on the same commute. Mixed city/country two lane highways. Great car to drive, plenty of power when I wanted it. But after 9 years and 113k miles, it was time for something new.

Long story short, I’m wondering if there are mods that have shown to improve the already fantastic fuel economy of the 1.5L

Yes and you already have it, and its your right foot! Seriously, i doubt that there is such mod. I mean usual bolt on gets the car more air which means more fuel. Your best bet is shaving a few pounds of the car.

Above reply is on point. Practice hypermilers habits and you will see over 500 miles per tank. It has worked for me.

I was really impressed with the mpg on my trip home after picking it up. It was a 4.5 hour drive home, nearly all 60-70 mph posted speeds. Last segment of about an hour was about 47 mpg! That’s a heck of a lot better than my ‘08 Civic. Thanks for your input!

There’s always the tips such as:
Do not carry extra weight (for instance in the trunk)
Always keep the right pressure in your tire
Light right foot as everybody said
Keep your maintenance up to date
Use the AC only when needed
You may put a k&n filter which could help a little but doesn’t protect your engine as much as the OEM ones

My AC is always on, as is my heated seat, and radio. My trunk is packed with plenty of IT worker and dadlife stuff. Still average over 40mpg across multiple tanks of fuel.

LA traffic is insanely horrible. I could never handle that shit on a regular basis.

I live in the south. Without AC, I’d die, especially being a transplant from the PNW. I typically leave the head in auto. Trunk is empty at the moment, as I’ve just bought it and the wife hasn’t had need to clean out the back of her van yet . Will be interesting to see what happens later this fall when the weather cools off, hopefully. Supposed to be back in the low 90’s by the end of the week.

Aero mods are one of them. I can't find any detailed 3D models of the FK8's undercarriage to do accurate aero simulations. I am surprised how the L15B7 can get ~41 mpg on the indicator at 80 mph.

Skinnier, smaller 16" wheels and tires will improve the MPG a decent amount

enable eco mode as well as all of the above.
Nah. I actually get worse mileage with the Econ button pressed. All it does is reduce A/C output and dulls throttle response. You have to press deeper into throttle to compensate which causes slightly lower mpg. The only time it's worthwhile is using it on a highway cruise at a more or less steady speed. Once you accelerate, it's useless.
