Our core measurements are 710mm x 194mm x 120mm :)

@Mishimoto Do you guys have a guess when the intercoolers will actually get shipped to us after the preorder?
We estimate about 5-6 weeks that we'll be shipping these out after the presale launches

This may have been answered already, but I didn't want to read 16 pages...

Will this innercooler be direct fit? Or are there modifications that will need to be made to make it fit (like the Full Race one)?

No modifications needed, bolts right on and includes all piping and silicone couplers and clamps

Does the USR Oil Cooler that you guys make fit with the new Mishimoto Intercooler?
x2, I'd like to buy an intercooler and oil cooler and knock them both out at once.

No, the current USR cooler does not fit with the Mishimoto intercooler but a V2 side Mount oil cooler is in the works and testing has gone well.

for those not on Facebook, this was shared today by United Speed Racing......

United Speed Racing (USR) is proud to publicly announce that we have been working with Mishimoto for a couple of months now, putting their prototype intercooler through rigorous testing on the track. Many have noticed it lurking behind the lower grill, and have asked questions but we have had to keep comments to a minimum, but now we are happy to be able to talk about it freely, and share our opinions and we definitely recommend it. We have been using many Mishimoto products over the years with good success and were happy to be given the opportunity to test the intercooler for them. We have proven our commitment to help the FK8 Civic Type-R community with product development, testing and more. We are lucky to have many opportunities to run on a race track as often as once or more every week. This has given us time to test various changes and parts individually and as a whole as well as gather data on temperature, performance, lap times, etc and use that information to change products for the better and find out exactly what works and what does not.

Upon receiving the Mishimoto intercooler and piping set, we were blown away by the quality and completeness of the system, just seeing it in person. With provided hardware, installation was a breeze as well. The FK8 Civic Type-R packs everything in to a tight area, making aftermarket development difficult at times. Mishimoto did a fantastic job fitting the largest core possible as well as engineering it with standard style round outlets and manufacturing silicone couplers and piping that fits perfectly. Some of them at first look seemed odd in shape but while installing, we immediately realized the reasons and again was amazed they were able to pack that much in such a small space. The entire installation was seamless and we were not presented with any issues, and this was a prototype kit, but fit like a final production unit should, impressive to say the least.

Next up was testing, seeing what this core could really do to change IAT before entering the intake. We went to the track with 2 cars, our Time Attack prepped car with upgraded performance parts, the Mishimoto intercooler, Mishimoto intake, and stock cooling system otherwise. We also took a customer’s car that had stock cooling system, intercooler, and intake, but with modified performance parts as the same as our.... which are our wrapped DP, our turbo blanket, and running the same tune from KTuner. We are using the final hot laps of each run to compare, as this is when the most heat soak has taken place. We want to note that the customer’s CTR had stock brake pads and was a customer’s car so we were not pushing it to the max, however, still were pushing it relatively hard, but we ran our car at competition pace. The data from the Mishimoto intercooler/Intake showed peak IAT2 (at MAF before turbo) to be 80F, and IAT (at MAP after intercooler) to be 84F. The customer’s car with stock intercooler and intake showed peak IAT2 to be 80F and IAT to be 136F. Runs were made nearly back to back with same ambient temps. 5% difference between the 2 temps with the Mishimoto vs 70% difference with the stock cooler. Big difference and will greatly effect power and tune. Even at low speeds the core is efficient enough to keep temps under control but as air speed increases, the efficiency does as well and IAT drops significantly compared to stock. Each time we look at data logs we are impressed with how well it works, and in higher ambient temperatures, over 85F, we often see IAT after the cooler being lower than before the turbo.

Overall we continue to be happy with our prototype test unit. We typically only promote products we use or trust, and this will be one of them.
More to come.....
