So this has been a long time coming. I originally planned to go through with the install in February, but life happened and had to hold off for a few months. Just wanted to post some immediate feedback on the new setup. Had a MFactory Helical LSD, Spec Stage 2+ clutch, and Spec Steel single mass flywheel. The LSD was ordered and installed by my buddy James at @ghostwerks, located in Ontario - he's a transmission specialist/wizard/God. The Spec Stage 2+ clutch and flywheel were sourced via Two Step Performance and installed by Derek at DT Hondamotive who happens to be right next door to GhostWerks.

Initial Feedback

Spec Stage 2+ Clutch - The clutch feel compared to stock is definitely stiffer and much more springy. I'm not sure if DT adjusted my clutch engagement position, but it feels lower than stock position ( stock felt about 3" and it now feels like 2" - please don't quote me on this, it just feels shorter ) and it feels great. I definitely do not see an issue commuting with the new clutch but it definitely does not feel like an econo car anymore. I didn't do the CDV removal and so far don't see any need to. For now the car's still my daily so mistakes will happen and with the flywheel there's so little downtime in between shifts now that i'm completely happy with the setup.

Spec Single Mass Steel Flywheel - No more rev hang! I can't even imagine how much quicker the aluminum flywheel must be. There's no chatter and you wouldn't be able to audibly tell that I had a lightened SMF. The clutch snappiness combined with the quicker rev drop meant it took me a few minutes to adjust. I'm able to immediately shift now without clutching in and waiting for revs to drop. It's a joy to shift now even though i'm still running the stock shifter ( planning to run the full Acuity shifter as my next mod ). Didn't get a chance to weigh the clutch + flywheel setup from stock to Spec 2+, but just carrying them to and from install is a noticeable difference in weight. Car in general just feels a bit more lively now with the new clutch + flywheel setup.

MFactory Helical LSD - Holy moly, this will probably need the biggest adjustment to my driving style. I do a lot of canyon driving on weekends and one of the main issues I had was being able to get on the gas exiting turns. Because the civic is so light, the car is extremely nimble and i've noticed being able to take turns a bit faster than friends cars ( have consisted of E46 M3, F22 m235i, STI's, etc.. ), but coming out of turns and trying to get on throttle was painful. It'd pretty much just feel like i'd be spinning tires and understeering out until traction caught up. I definitely need better tires ( currently running Goodyear Tires Eagle Sport All Season ) but with the LSD I can get on gas earlier, select my line, and the front tires just pull me out.

The only thing I need to get use to is getting on the correct line when I gas because once I get on the gas the car almost feels like it's on rails. Also feels a lot like AWD, but just my front end lol. The first time I gassed it coming out of a turn, it definitely caught me slightly off guard. On the stock open diff, you could gas out of a turn and steering just didn't feel like it worked until you let off the gas and let traction catch up. I definitely need a lot more time with the car to adjust to the new setup, but i'm extremely happy so far.

Installation

GhostWerks - So James, owner of GhostWerks, took care of my LSD install. I chatted with him for a few months about the process until I finally scheduled with him and got everything done. Extremely knowledgeable and experienced and definitely one of the coolest people I know and consider him a friend now. If you have any questions regarding the process, shoot him a DM on instagram @ghostwerks. He answered all my questions and made the whole experience super smooth.

DT Hondamotive - Derek, the owner, is a Honda master tech and handles literally anything and everything. Super cool and quirky guy and was super welcoming. He also does dyno tuning there so if you have any questions, shoot him a DM on instagram at @dttuned or call him at 909-605-5858. Would highly recommend him for any work you need done.

Honestly at this point i'm a bit fuzzy on how much I actually paid for the LSD. I want to say I paid $750-800 for it. I ordered it a while ago and just remember getting a great deal through @ghostwerks. In terms of install, all I can say is that it was extremely fair. I don't expect discounts off quality work so i'm very happy with what I paid for the install.

Hello,

Just reviving this thread. Inquiring your feedback on the MFactory LSD on the FK7 and also if any FK7 owner's who have this LSD installed provide their experience. Thanks.

Did you change the bearings for the LSD install? How do you like it now?

Also, does it interfere with the cars assists? VSA? How's it holding up?

crspy (the OP) apparently sold his hatch long ago. Mfactory reviews say there is low speed chatter, but it typically doesn’t interfere with any assistance systems to the best of my knowledge. If you want little to no chatter, you may need to buy a whole Si trans, driver axle, and passenger half-shaft. This Si-swap is common enough, and decently well documented

How do you like the Wavetrac? I’m debating it right now.
so far so good no issues at all drives smooth just like stock no weird sounds.
i did not have much chance to drive my car due to lockdown happening here because of covid but she drives well.
