Im trying to purchase the MAP head stud kit but it is currently 6-8 weeks out.

I spoke to MAP and they are just using the studs for the gsx 1300/hayabusa ARP 271-4701
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/arp-271-4701

So I would pay the $150 for 10 spacers if they had them in stock but I don't really want to wait 8 weeks! Does anyone know the spacer dimensions? I could turn these and heat treat them no problem. I have a lot of PMs from members with bad head gasket, I might as well turn 100 spacers, only take less than 1 hour and help the community out. If I do end up waiting it out ill be sure to measure the spacers so others aren't playing the waiting game too.

Ive heard of people using the double washer method from arp. Just order the arp kit plus an extra 10 washers and you are good to go

Yeah I ordered the Busa studs and the washers. The washers are like .120 thick and the MAP spacer looks about .750 thick so I'm guessing it's going to take a lot more then just 2 stacked. I'll likely turn the spacers out of 7/8 304 stainless rod.

304 may be too soft/weak compared to the studs and can't be hardened by heat treatment.

I know it's softer and was hoping someone might chime in. There is going to be so much mass I was thinking it shouldn't compress much to matter. I have 304 but could buy something else. What would you recommend for 7/8 bar?

Why not the same 8740 low-alloy steel they used for the studs. If you can find it in a small quantity for a reasonable price.

440C round bar is easily available even on Amazon as people make knives out of it. This will definitely not deform in this application.

Also curious if anyone’s found a solution yet. I know eman uses taller and fatter nuts to get rid of the washers completely. I just have no idea the measurements of any of it.

As far as I can tell those are the two options. Taller nuts or spacer kit. Message Eman and see if he can share the specs.

You can use 2 of the washers linked above at minimum, I would run 3 sets if I did that. I purchased 1 set (and the arp studs come with a set of 10 also) but ended up turning spacers ot of 440c stainless linked above. I used m10 ID x .850 OD x .500 thick.

What about a flat seated lug nut? I’m not sure if an aluminum one would be a good idea or steel? Just a thought
