Did anyone changed manual transmission fluid? I wonder how hard was to break loose fill hole bolt? Have you changed the washer there? Also, by any chance you guys have a picture of location the drain bolt? I’m planning on changing fluid this weekend but haven’t paid much attention to where the drain plug is located when changing motor oil...feedback is greatly appreciated!

The bolt is on the right side under the intake area when looking down from above. Not that hard to find, but it was TIGHT. So you might need a breaker bar. I used an old torque wrench to break it loose. It was a breeze after that. I don't recall a washer to replace on the fill hole.

Thanks pal. How was the drain bolt? Tight as well? Have you torqued them up to the spec or just snug?

Drain plug was not super tight. I did them nice and snug. No issues thus far.

Get a funnel like this and it's an easy day...

They sell a style at most Walmarts... though it's tube is a little thick. If the tube is too big to fit in the fill hole, they sell different sizes in the plumbing section of home Depot/Lowe's (it's just tygon tubing). Fuel line might work too... You get another short piece who's outer diameter in the same as the inner diameter of the funnels tube. Stick it in... should fit fine.

I got me some Amsoil. It’s a bit more viscous compared to Honda MTF hoping this will help with notchy 1-2 shift, and intermittent hard going in with first

Thank you very much for posting this! Plugs locations are clear now lol

Yeah, I already got me a long neck funnel, seems to be long enough

Yup, that’s the one! Am I supposed to put exactly 2 quarts or measure what comes out and put same volume?
Used the same stuff on a hard shifting, notchy RSX with a issue with it popping out of 3rd. Made it... honestly better than my Si is now... and it's good.

I kind of measure what comes out... if it was like the RSX... the fill capacity (it'll be in the owners manual) will be essentially filled up to the fill hole.

That car was 3.2 Qts or so (more than 3... I remember that much.). As soon as I pretty much did anything more than 3, it started oozing out of the fill hole... so I had almost 1 whole quart left over when I was done. I think the fill hole was on a verticle part if the case... so do keep sort of track of what you put in. You can definitely overfill things.. but you couldn't the RSX. Not to say the Civic is the same.

On a side note... I'd love a review of how the Amsoil does for you. It did wonders for me on that RSX... and it was the 3rd MTF I tried to improve it. It was better than good afterwards.

Right on. That’s my first honda with manual and honestly i’m a bit disappointed with the transmission. Almost 20k in the ownership and i’m still struggling with notchy and jerky shifts. Just wierd, now matter how soft i drive it still feels off..not completely off, but not satisfying i’d say

My 9th gen Civic Si was traded for my current and it's shifting has gotten sort of crappy in 3 years and under 30k. Had I not traded it, I would have done the Amsoil by now. It was a smooth shifting tranny for the first year but didn't last.

If it does good for you... I think I'll order some for me. I'm only at 6k... but if this car is like the last one... I'll be looking to be changing it w/in 2 years and 20k... based on shift feel/effort alone.

I know the Amsoil was good for 2 years and ~25k when I sold the car.
