If you use your Smartphone with AA, in your Car, you might want to consider making sure you BACKUP UP your Apps.

Why ?
Well, there comes a time when thing seem to stop working -- the APP that use to work fine, now is not working as they did earlier.

Chances are, it is because the APP has updated, and there is an incompatibility or Bug in the new update .. and you are SCREWED.
You updated it from Google Play Store, and now the only version available on Google Play Store is this new latest version, that "May" have screwed everything up as far as your Honda is concerned.

So here is my recommendation, based on what I do, both as far as my Smartphone is concerned and the Honda, (and also as an beta tester for some apps)

(1) TURN OFF Automatic Updated . YOU need to be in control. You do NOT want Apps updating without you knowing, behind your back.

(2) If you do not already have a Google Drive account, set one up. This is a good place to keep your backups,

(3) Install an APK Exporter program on your phone. This will allow you to backup and make a copy of any APK (application) currently on your phone.

(4) Now BACKUP your key Car Apps to your Google Drive, using the APK exporter, putting them all into a GOOD APK directory as master backups.

Include :
Android Auto
Google Maps
Google Assistant
Google Drive
Any Music Apps. ie Spotify, Poweramp, Amazon Music etc
-- Basically anything you use with Android Auto.

You can obviously back up other apps, but this is really about making sure that thing KEEP WORKING with Android Auto, when you are in your car.

If everything is working well, when you do this, you have a good set of backups of a set of apps that work in your car.

Now, if at a later time, you are checking and see on your Smartphone on Google Play, that there are updates to any of the Car Apps, you can decide if you really want to try the update.

If you do, then BACKUP that APP by exporting it from your Smartphone, like you did before. (but not into your KEEP-ANDROID folder),. Then you can update the App.

If it causes a problem, you can always UN-Install it, and then re-install the version you just saved.

All this may sound a bit complicated, but really, its very easy.. once you start doing it.

If you do this, you will GREATLY reduce the chances that your Android Auto Apps will stop working, especially as you are now not allow any Automatic Updates.

Key is to turn AUTOMATIC Updates OFF in your account at the Google Playstore.
