How often does the oil need to be changed? Simply wait for maintenance minder or every __ miles / months ?

Love my car, want it to last as long as possible. Manual doesn’t seeem to say much about intervals/miles.

Thanks guys!

I do it every 3,500 miles. I recommend every 3,500-4,500 depending on how you drive.

Bottom of page 569 in the manual just says to change once a year if no maintenance minder message. I usually change mine around 10%, you'll get a reminder at 15% just follow that.

That's overkill you should be 6k+ miles between changes easy provided you use the recommended fully synthetic.

I just waited for the MM to say 15% left
For my SI, it was about 9K KM.

Not really honestly, all the master techs I work with recommend customers do it between those intervals.

For me, I choose to trust the car manufacturers. They build these engines so they are in the best position to recommend service schedule.

It used to be that way with conventional oil with a shorter life span and a little added touch of marketing to generate revenue. Oil has come such a long way and fully synthetic is extremely more efficient, in reality you can get more than 10k miles between changes and you won't have any problems. In no way does a 10th gen civic need an oil change at 3500 miles with fully synthetic oil. The maintenance minder won't tell you that, honda techs won't tell you that, Honda of America wont tell you that. Dudes you work with must know better than all of those people though right?

Just follow the maintenance minder.

I do every 5K. Let's say it's even a little overkill to change that often, it's still better for the engine.

I change my driving habit now. If I keep the car in normal mode and daily commute the way i do, the maintenance reminder will drop to 15% in 4k miles.

Thank you to the helpful people

Here’s a thought, when you see a redundant thread and/or don’t feel like helping, don’t. You know what’s worse than a repeat thread? People taking the time to post about how it personally annoys them. No one forced you to click, read, and post. No one.

Again, thank you. Much appreciated. Have a lovely day everybody

I read your subject because I thought you would bring something new.
Nothing.

A little research on the forum, as is the rule of all forums, you would have an answer.

But it probably requires more effort

(Seriously, thank you all who actually were helpful. Wasn’t sure if I missed anything ... I deeply apologize to all of you and your loved ones for the damage I’ve done with this thread.)
