Apologies if this has been asked. I bought a 2018 civic hatchback LX Canadian model in June, I am at 9500km and the maintenance minder hasn't gone off yet, oil life indicator is sitting at 40%. I called my dealership, they said I should be coming in every 6k-8k Km's (based on Honda recommendation), but this isn't what the owner manual says. The owner manual just says if the maintenance minder hasn't gone off in 12 months or more, I should be going in for an oil change. What do I do? I haven't done a single oil change yet.

My 2018 Si went 14k before its first oil change. If you do a lot of highway driving it will extend the change interval out.

So yes, follow the MM unless a year has passed (which it hasn't in your case).

For reference, my 9th gen Si also went 14-16k between oil changes via MM.

Honda's recommendation is to follow the MM. And of course, to read your owners manual.

Original Honda oil ?

You must keep original oil to less than 10 % , it is a special breaking oil.
Other oil change, I change every 7,000 kms , I don't follow MM
