I have a 2016 Civic EX-T. i last got my oil change i was at ~36,000 miles. At 40,700 the minder said i had 0 oil life and popped code B7. I understand checking the brake fluid by why in the world would it say i need an oil change after 4,000 miles??

How long ago was your last oil change? And do you make a lot of short trips? Those are factors that the computer uses to calculate when you need an oil change.

MM oil change intervals will vary depending on driving conditions, driving habits etcetera. Mine usually pops up around 5,000 miles, for others it's lower and for others, much higher. I actually think it works really well.

It was maybe 9 months ago? Will have to double check.

Usually the car in the last year has been driven for < 30 minute trips. Shorter trips likely wear it out quicker?

Yes, short trips and not driving it actually shorten you roil changes. I've seen cars drive highway and go 10k miles. Also since the brake is due it's probably showing the oil change a little early.

All of my oil minder notifications have come at approximately 10k. Do a mix but a lot of highway/two lane roads. Maybe I don’t push it that much, but over speed daily. Even the previous 12k on TSP stage 1. 70k on odometer, tuned since about 55k.

I could never get the maintenance minder to alert me for anything. I only averaged ~4000 miles a year but even based on time it never minded me for anything. Oil life never got under 70%. I just changed oil once a year with amsoil.
