***10/9/2022 New weight for lightest FC2 on the planet - 2,377.80 lbs***
Next steps on goal to 2,300 lbs.
1) dash beam gutt/paint
2) carbon hood and fenders
3) washer bottle delete (done sept 22)
4) custom titanium exhaust
5) final sound deadening removal

**This thread will be the Yin to the Yang of all the slammed, 19x9.5 riding, subwoofer hauling, clear turn signal, 3000 lb 10th civics driving around with their sunroof open playing some hippity-hop crap***

Now that my title has fair-warned everyone, here’s my project. A project I started out of sheer boredom with a car That’s paid for and is so cheap that I just don’t give a shiz if I mess with it.

Early November 2018 I bought a leftover 2018 Sedan LX 6MT in Burgundy Night Pearl. Actually got lucky in hind sight, as that color isn’t available anymore and you can’t get the LX with 6MT anymore.

At first I just added Eibach Pro Kit springs, ceramic tint and ditched the steelies and hub caps for Enkei TFR copper 17x8’s. Same weight as stock with tires. Much better handling and looks.

drove car like that for over a year. Got bored and with my history of tearing cars apart to lighten them, I have gotten to this list of weight removed.

Weight loss

Rear seat belts 7.8

Speakers and head unit 6.0

Rear door panels, rear floor mats, plus hardware from all removed 10.0

Spare tire/wheel 23.2

Rear tan plastic trims 5.2

Rear seat bottom 10.0

Rear seat back 21.8

Rear trunk floor cover 2.6

Trunk tools plus gray foam 5.0

Rear parcel shelf 5.0

16” rpf1 swap 23

7.4 misc trunk stuff

3.4 trunk back release mechanism, armrest, trunk back carpet

=130.4

2742 - 130.4 = 2,611.60 lbs

Future plans:

rv-6 Catless downpipe
K tuner
Hybrid Racing shifter with center console delete
2021 LE Type R radio delete panel to cover the hole I have in my dash
Seibon Carbon hood
Shorai battery
Recaro front seats
Titanium lug nuts or maybe just Rays dura
De-tan rest of interior (buy A and B pillars from Honda and have headliner recovered in black)
De-Chrome front
De-Chrome side upper trim moldings

I’ve done A/C delete on cars in the past, but now that I’m 39 I think I’d like a feather-weight car with that one creature comfort left in. Time will tell.

looking for 2500lbs and 180hp. Power to weight better than all 10th models (except Type R of course)

the car is not fast by any means, but is significantly quicker. I can 1-2 shift lay rubber now haha.

Down another 15 lbs so I’m under 2,600.
Deleted glovebox and center console.

Installed HPS Intake boot (red) pics to come, swapped out my engine and cabin filters to new original Honda parts (dirty even at only 10,500 miles).

Installed FKX Racing front grille. Didn’t install the red H badge, like it open.

Hybrid Racing Red Shifter Assembly with carbon fiber shift knob in the mail. Will take pics of center console delete when it’s installed.

EDIT: if you’d like to see a civic leaking ac condenser check this pic. Dye all over. Ac still cold but getting warmer and starting to make that tell tale hissing sound.

Washed car today. Got a pic with HPS Intake boot on. Really looking forward to the cat delete downpipe. Telling myself I should wait for a sale and get it with the K Tuner bundle at RV6.

also realizing I need some more red under the hood to blend with the boot. Thinking dip stick, oil cap, engine cover, bolts.

down to just under 2,580 lbs. deleted roof wiring to overhead lights, antenna and the center console usb cable with one more trim piece, and headliner.
Passenger seat is temporarily out. It weighs 37 lbs. Currently driving around at 2,540 lbs.

Looking for a reclinable, lightweight driver seat. Ironically the aftermarket Recaro, Bride, Sparco ones are generally about the same weight as a stock seat! About 25-30lbs seat then you have the base and sliders. You could argue even at the same weight, a aftermarket seat is still worth it because it’s so much more comfortable and supportive + looks. But I won’t do it unless it’s lighter. Unfortunately the only lighter one I’ve seen is the Bride Gias II seat with carbon fiber structure. 2 grand PER seat lol. Worth it though.

I’ve been occasionally lurking on this forum for a couple months now. I finally created an account just to say you’re a mad man and I absolutely love it. Can’t wait to see further progress on this build.

Interesting build.

Is this your only car?

Will you be racing on a track?

What does the interior look like?

I have (3) cars currently but yes I daily this. No track racing, Hawaii has none. The interior is a work in progress. I have the Hybrid shifter installed so I’ll snap a pic soon and post.

Found a local 2000 Insight with 29k miles. Mocked up a mint condition seat. Looks far better than the stock tan ones.

haha kidding. It’s an old center cap I had laying around. It’s just sitting there. Nothing permanent.

Removed a few more things.
dash vents
Dash underpanel
Passenger airbag module
Also weighed all screws I’ve removed
^8.5 lbs for all above

Current weight = 2,523 lbs ?

got sick of the cheap looking RPF-1 center caps so I removed them (ironically they are $100 a set!) Also removed the ugly black stickers on the wheels. (2 per)

Used some infomercial spray wax. Yellow pineapple smelling stuff. Slick!

I’ve always disliked the flat black/gray plastic bumper add ons. Particularly in the back. That lower middle diffuser and the side wings with reflectors. So I deleted them......naturally.

my car is also about 18 months and 11,900 miles old so I wanted to clean up underneath there anyways. You would be shocked all the freaking pebbles, leaves, sticks and clumps of dirt that came out!!

Removed bumper.
Cleaned bumper.
Cleaned under bumper on rear impact beam and surrounding areas.
Cleaned the unremarkable lx exhaust, shocked it “kind of” shines now lol.

After cleaning bumper, I removed Phillips screws on reflector wings (2 each) and (2) on diffuser and removed all. Cleaned and spray waxed underneath. Then decided to take a knife to the lip that remains after removing the diffuser. Cleaner now (although you can see the bottom inch of the black crash beam now).

Removed parts = 2.4lbs
Car is 2,519.60 lbs inching closer to 2400’s with all steel body panels still, stock ac system, stock drivers seat and steering wheel with airbag (want recaro and MOMO respectively). Also stock battery and exhaust still. So I have an easy 50 lbs I can lose with just battery and exhaust.
