Lowering and CV boot accelerated failure

$450 later and the problem is fixed. The dealer I went to is not "mod friendly" at all, and despite haggling with them, they ultimately blamed the problem on the springs.

did the dealer swap our just your cv boots? or did they change the entire axle? im asking bcuz i am in the same situation.

They replaced the CV boot kit, which includes both sides. The wear wasn't as severe, but if you don't take care of it sooner than later, it will wear on the axle and you would have to get that replaced as well.

I’ve been on coils for about a month . I Periodically check my cv boots for wear . Things seem to be ok. Is the wear being caused by extremely low ride height ? How low are most you that had to replace the your cv’s?

Has anyone running Eibach sportline springs or similar lowering springs experienced accelerated or premature CV boot failure?

I am on coil-overs and blew out my pas. side axle + blew engine mounts. I started a whole discussion under it feel free to check it out. In my case it is pretty apparent that dealer wont cover it but it does make me wonder if 10thgen axles are prone to more failure since I here a lot of chatter about them failing. And I dont even know if I should replace with OEM parts if they fail again, and as far as I know there are no aftermarket support for axles on 10th gens yet.

axles for this car is about $125 at least for drivers side, much better than the 499 toyota wants for the camry

Been lowered on D2 for over 1k miles now. My CV boot is still okay. I removed the whole hub when installing the front springs though.

Because axles are easier to replace as a whole rather than the time and work it takes for the CV boot. Especially when the boots are backordered. It took 2 months for the dealer to call me back about the boots. If I had waited on them rather than do it myself, my axle would have been torn up from all the extra rain getting in the boot for 3 months.

Guys, I am pretty sure the issue is not that the CV boots are wearing out. From what I have heard and seen, the issue of the torn boot comes from when the steering knuckle is forced down. There is a sharp tab on the lower control arm, and the boot gets pushed right on to that tab. I have heard that people will put a small piece of plywood over the lower control arm so that boot doesn't get torn when it is pivoted down.
