Here is my solution to avoid damages for road debris and small stones in my condenser, these pictures correspond to my 2019 civic sport but this solution can be used across all the models, the cost of the materials is about 20$ and the time taken between cutting and installing everything was about 2 hours.

Materials:

Gutter Guard available in home depot or lowes

Metal Scissors

Optional Automotive door trim molding

Put the mesh inside the 2 lines in red to avoid moving by wind or vibrations.

Took me forever to find this tutorial. Thanks for the step by step. Gonna work on this Saturday. Definitely helps. What did you zip tie the mesh to? To the bumper?

I purchased this grill a while back. It looks great and cleans up the lower grill area. Easy to install. Goes right over the existing grill with double sided tape.

Which seller did you get this from? I’m thinking of going this route for plan B. LOL

Do you mind getting the measurements to the top and bottom length, and the height of grille?

Could you use electrical tape around the edges instead of door edge trim?
That’s going to look like out of this world and plus the fact that it’ll not hold up that long. Might as well save up for the actual thing.

I thought maybe it would be a cheaper alternative than using the trim. Might as well save the money and get the one off AliExpress.

I have the grille from Procivic.com.
Which grille are you taking about? The honeycomb mesh one or the one that goes on the bottom of the bumper like the one you get off AliExpress? I couldn’t find the lower grille on procivic.com.

Well my first attempt I ended up cutting the mesh To short. It had a gap on each side. So I’m gonna have to go back and get another piece of mesh wire. Also, I need long shrink tubing. Don’t wanna use up my boyfriends stuff lol. Figured the shrink tubing would work just as well as the door edge trim. The only part I’m having issue with is getting the zip tie to line up with the slots where it’s marked to put the zip tie at.

The image number 10 in my post shows the zip tie positions.

Thanks. I’ll have to work on it sometime this week. May use the piece of mesh I messed up cutting for the to part of the grille and get another piece for the lower part.

Another one, on Hatch EX.
Amerimax Gutter Guard mesh: Cut and trimmed to 34x5in. I realized I had no idea what the inside of the grille looked like so I cut the gutter guard extra big. I'll trim it down later to match the inside of the bumper
Tools: wire cutters and a set of big-ass pliers... the nips were a lot faster. Just follow the mesh where it's jointed and nip it. You get a consistent straight line and everything.

Youtube University on how to take the bumper off. Total disassembly/zipties/trimming/reassembly took me about 3 hours in the SoCal heat. I also have no idea what I'm doing, so it'll be way quicker if you have a friend.

Press the mesh lightly against the grille. Zip tie a few points starting at the middle and work your way out. It'll help you as you trim around the mesh to fit the grille.

Used about a dozen and half of these 18lb zip ties. Figure if a rock or bug is big enough to break a battery of zipties, it'll probably cause other damage.

Single zipties on the edges, more towards the center.

I hope this helps save someone from an expensive repair
