My setup is a bit complicated where I have a micro controller (Arduino) to chose the patterns/colors but you can do this...

I bought 8ft but only used 4ft, 1 foot per section. This comes with a controller.

I used this to power the led, you will need to cut the end off and solder it to the led strip controller

This helps A LOT with connecting the 4 sections of led's together especially if your not good with soldering

Also you'll need some wire to hook everything together

My setup wasn't as complicated. Just bought a couple items from Autozone which, after a $20 rebate, came in at about $80 for everything and I was able to install it myself in about 2 hours. I'm very pleased with the results. I probably took too long to do it but it all came out very clean and with only the wireless dongle showing a little bit. You can download a free app and control all the lights as well as extend more lights as you please.

Dome light:

Interior light kit:

I also bought an extension to run some lights to the trunk. I bought some "ultra bright" strips and they work perfect for what I was going for.

If you wanted a quick and very easy to remove light that will glow in the foot well area up front, buy a pink neon tube, set it in the cubby by the 12v power outlet and plug it in. Most of them have an on/off switch.

Question: how does the app connect to the controller? Bluetooth?

Do the lights return to the last setting when you restart the car, or do you have to use the app every time?

I just want white led lights by the feet. How do I wire it where they turn on when the door opens but also have the option to turn them on or off when the doors are shut?

The app connects to the controller through Bluetooth. The LEDs in the footwells and trunk are all connected to a small box that's about the size of a deck of cards. The app picks up the box very easily. The dome light in the trunk, however, is basically a replacement bulb and that light has it's own Bluetooth chip on it so it's very, very clean. I just used the 3M adhesive provided to stick it to the metal directly above the plastic for the dome light. The only problem (not even really a problem) that I have is that my phone's isn't able to reach to the trunk dome light's Bluetooth but I think it may be due to interference from the amps in my car that block or distort the signal. I'm really not sure.

As far as the settings of the lights go, they will be the same color, brightness, and LED Mode Setting that you last left it on. In fact, I disconnect the cigarette lighter attachment for the footwell LEDs after use (I know I could leave it in but I would rather not be surprised later down the road when I need a jumpstart) and my settings always remain the same when I plug it back in.

I'm having a hard time understanding how this is setup. Do all of the LED strips have to stay connected to the receiver or do you plug them in once to get them synced and then you place throughout the car?

I was inspired by someone else's idea too and decided to install a strip in my car. It made using the trunk convenient and enjoyable. Every time I turn on the lights - my mood only raise=) I initially doubted whether it was possible so easily connect the strip without any resistors - it turned out that it was easier than I thought. The main thing that the strip was designed for 12 volts. First, I installed led strip light - glued under the shelves with the speakers, laid the wires, tucked and tamped. I won't describe further process, everything is clear there. In result, it was a neat and perfect job!
