Has anyone had their OEM Conts patched for a small leak on the tread? Sprung a leak over the holiday weekend and going to a local Firestone on Monday per my wheel/tire warranty to have it patched. Any issues with the dismounting/mounting of these 20's? Any info would be appreciated. All my other vehicles go to Costco tires for repairs or replacements. thanks

Honda recommends that tires on the OEM 20" wheels be changed by a shop with a Hunter Engineering wheel/tire machine. Acura dealerships should also be handle it.

It's not about the diameter, it's about the small sidewall. The recommended Hunter Machine does not use a lever mechanism. Many people say it is not really required, if the technician is careful and experienced.

Just returned from Firestone still with a leaking tire. The tech inspected the tire and found 2 large screws in different parts of the tread. I asked if it appeared to be intentional and he couldn’t give me a yes or no answer.
CtR is a daily driver to and from work. Garaged at home and work.
The tech was able to patch the holes but said there was a slight leak so the tire has to be replaced. He called all local dealers and tire centers and no oem ones were in stock and has to be special ordered.
He went ahead and ordered a new tire for $400.00. Basically, my wheel/tire hazard warranty just paid for itself in the first year because it also covered a car rental while I wait for the new tire. What a crazy 2 weeks. First a windshield replacement last week covered by AAA insurance and now this flat.
Just an FYI for those owners who experience this. BTW, not having a spare including just a donut is a real pia.....

It may not have been intentional. The OEM contis are extremely sticky. They will pick up everything on the road. I’ve lost one to a screw already also. I’m at 3900 miles. FYI discount tire is under $300 per tire for the stockers.

Can these OEM tires be plugged with a tire plug kit? This way you don't even have to worry about anyone scratching the wheels. I must have plugged max performance summer tires about 10 times already and they all held without issues until the tread wore out.

Not sure about a plug kit but the tech said the screws were large and punctured the tire in an angle so the patch would not be effective for an extended period of time. Prior to working on my Ctr, the mgr assured me they can handle the wheel size and dimensions and the rim would not be damaged.

Yes can use a tire plug on it.

I have had 2 screws on two different tires.
Did it with plugs, just make sure it is the thicker plug (I believe the orange plugs are thicker) so it stays intact.

Both sides are on the inner tread so i assume at any point plug may wear off where it will need to be plugged again due to camber wear. It has been 4k miles and hasn't leak at stock height.

As long it is not near the sidewall plug should work.
