What he means is that torque is what gives you that low end oomph, whereas horsepower builds up more at higher rpm's.

So...who would accelerate faster:
1) The guy who launches his car at max torque rpm or
2) The guy who launches his car at max horsepower rpm
? :)

Well, I wouldn't advise launching your car on a regular basis, so there's that.

Best launch would be where you get the most power but less wheelspin.

Let's say.......you'd get no wheelspin in either case.
Which scenario would you get maximum acceleration? :)

But what rpm is max torque
Stock!
You get 162lb-ft of torque from 1700-5500rpm.
You get 174hp at 6000rpm

So.....would you get maximum acceleration from launching anywhere between 1700-5500rpm or from launching at 6000rpm?

So your telling me i need to hold the brakes and press the gas on until I reach 6k rpm...wouldn't that ruined the car
U can't do that.....u are limited to the stall speed of the torque converter. You can get up to above 1500rpm though. Somewhere between 1500-2200rpm.

I think I am going to see so many broken CVT transmissions in a year due to people remapping the turbo. Since Civic is such a popular car the reliability rating will sure suffer, you see that with Subarus very often.
Still looking for all those broken CVTs from remapping. I can say that you do see stock manual tranny clutches being replaced with a remapping almost all the time. It's almost mandatory. Almost...... :p

Don't mind me folks. Just bored and stirring up a little trouble.

Honestly Myx, all of this launching stuff is moot to me because I will never power brake launch my CVT Civic. My driving style is smooth and steady off the line and blowing the doors off unsuspecting cars at obscene speeds on the highway.
