Which equals 20.8/31.6 mpg or rounded 21/32 US
Marginally better. Actually not that great at all if you are looking for a DD. I get about 22 in my 8th Si right now so it's not as if it will be dramatically different.

It's definitely not great, but it is a Type R lol

If it's got an electronic wastegate I bet you could setup a nice eco-tune for DD duties that dumps all the boost out the window and runs nice and lean ;)

lolz true! haha. Yeahhh I'm sure I'm not the only one saying this - but I'm not getting the TypeR to drive around like a little biotch and try to get 40mpg+!!! haha

Eh, about what I was getting in my 2010 Mazda6. Not as good as the 2016 Civic 1.5T, but I wouldn't complain.

:)

I think we're getting too much into the semantics. Especially knowing that EPA calculations are their own little monster.

The key take-away is that fuel economy is decent. On par or better than others in this class when AWD is factored out.

Wow. I thought I heard the CTR would get 40+ hey but did not know gallons were different over there. Still some nice numbers either way, for ~300/300 hp/tq engine.

Really hoping the SI will get close to 30/40 cty hwy as rumored. I know about the CAFE standard and if Honda puts up some nice efficiency numbers I would expect Honda would expect some bigger sales on the 10th gen SI and more consumers would consider it. Either way, I am still highly considering the CTR, but the price point and styling need to fall into place. But in reality I'll probably be getting the SI. Also, the kinks need to be worked out by the time I do consider it, especially the head unit problems. Come on Honda, leak some details about the SI already.

25/38 IS the US converted mpg. 30/46 is the Imperial gallon mpg.
I re-checked the UK web-site link you listed - You're right! With a combined of 32 mpg it'll equal our '12 Si overall mpg. That'd be great for a 50%+ HP increase.
Wonder if ECU programming for US emissions will result in the same numbers for the USA?

Our friend HondaPro Jason has shared his speculation on the CivicX Si model, gathered from his own intelligence, sources, and rumors. Note: these are not officially confirmed by Honda in any way.

Si Model Year: No 2016 Civic Si model year. It will be a 2017 model year.
Release: Late Fall 2016 - Early Spring 2017
Specs: 2.0L detuned Type R engine, around 220-230hp, 6 speed manual, many shared parts with Type R.

Other notes:
  • Standard Coupe and Hatchback will be 2016MY.
  • Type R should be released Spring-Summer 2017.
  • All markets will be getting the sedan, coupe and hatchback.
  • Type R will be available in most, but not all markets.
I believe there is some buildup of the hatch and we are seeing this play out!

I got a google alert from a clickbait site that actually quotes this forum and HPJ.

I'm expecting a New York Auto Show release.

Ah yes of course I already knew that. Holy crap that's so far off! I have to wonder if that's reasonable to believe. I can see the TypeR going out that far, but I really think the Si will end up at SEMA. Maybe not ready for sale then, but ready to show off then.

With the Touring model at 27k you can bet your biscuits the Si will be the same or more.

This really does make the most sense. It continues the Si's legacy of coming with a 6 Speed only. At the 230HP max, it pretty much guarantees the starting price staying under $25K. And going with a detuned 2.0l is a lot easier than investing more time and money in making the 1.5T reach the same levels of HP.

I would guess that come April, Honda will reveal the production model at the NY Auto Show.
