Gave it back me more good drive and pulled out the Z for a final photo-op and a drive to make sure it’s up to snuff. Its been garaged since my last deployment… something like 2-3 months.
I’ll be pulling the LED headlights (same as what the Odyssey uses and I kept the halogens)… wireless charger and other bits out and do a little cleaning. I have quite a few parts stored up I never got around to installing… mostly winnings from Dragon events. Jenny’s going to take it over to Carmax Thursday and if they’re good for what they quoted, I’ll be letting her go after 4 years and 40k miles for about MSRP for what the car was new, based on their numbers. (Don’t mind the shadow)
Jenny drove the Z around town today… blasted it at WOT on the interstate and prodded me with a “Why the hell haven’t you been driving this!?” I guess the only real reason was the Civic was such a good car, easily to drive and low anxiety of anything breaking that’d be 1) difficult to replace and 2) expensive.
I’ll admit as I was doing some stuff with it last night… clearing out my apps and history for the HondaHack I was a bit sad. It really has been a good car... but it feels like the right time. I was ready to trade out last year… didn’t find a replacement… sat on it another year. When it’s time… it’s time, I suppose. For my DD, at 4 years… I’ve had this car longer than probably any other car before it, other than an Xterra and another 1st gen 300zx over the last 20+ years.
At least the Z is a manual… ?
