How’s your oil level on the dipstick? How old is the oil?

Thats not good at all. The code is a cylinder imbalance code. Either an odd sounding failing injector or something wrong internal (bearing noise) would be my guess. Keep us posted.

Strange. But plausible although I question what actually is wrong with the "head". Maybe a cam journal clearance etc.

Yikes. That sounds terrible.

I'm guessing/hoping that it will be covered under warranty?

I would ask how they determined that it's the cylinder head and that the factory, "over tightened" it.
I think the tech would be referring to casting flaws or off center line boring of cam journals etc. Not just over torqued.

All of which are low on my list of possibilities.

Yep. The explanation given sounds fishy to me. I hate playing Internet mechanic but I highly suspect that the OP has been sold a story.

What's good for him is they're committed to the repair now. Hate to say but it's likely from the "adjustments". Sounds like a heavy bottom end noise but I could just as easily be wrong. I guess we're gonna find out as long as the op keeps us in the loop.

UPDATE - 1/24/20 - Dealer has concluded “Failure of cylinder head due to lack of oil” as to the cause of this noise.
This news is very upsetting to me being that this dealer was the only one to service my car and i simply went in for a routine oil change/filter and left with a engine starved for oil. How this occurred is still unclear. I was given the general “these engines are very sensitive, anything could’ve caused this...etc.” Best bit of news from this, estimated arrival for a new cylinder head? MARCH 2nd, 2020!
I’m at a loss of words truly.
I suspect most engines are pretty sensitive if you run them without oil. Sorry that happened. Hopefully you come out alright on the other end.

The tech scrwed up your oil change and the Dealer is trying to cover his butt.
This car is not going to be the same as a new car even after repair.
I would be livid.
