Hello,

I wanted to ask if I could run my car with KTuner on 87 or even regular as possible. I know I know, people are gonna say why spend 450 on a tune when you can’t afford the gas.
I live in Louisiana and Hurricane Ida came 2 days ago and left people buying out all the gas from gas stations. I’ve been trying to find 93 everywhere but they only sold regular. The highest I could find was 87 and just took it after waiting in line for 2 hours.
I was thinking if it was not possible for KTuner to run on 87, was to just flash it back to factory for now.
Thanks!

If you're on one of the tunes that requires premium, do not run the tune on 87 imo. Had a 2016 blow up on me after a family member put in 87 when I specifically said not to do so while I was out of town. For sure blew up a spark plug because of this, which eventually caused it to throw a rod as far as I can tell.

I would never take that chance again.

I'm sitting here wondering how you can still consider them family; that's a whole enemy.

Tune back to stock? If the tune requires 91 or 93 then you NEED TO RUN 91 0R 93

Do they have 87 tunes ?

Don’t run it for weeks and months on end on regular. But if you can’t find gas anywhere, putting a tank or two won’t destroy the car. I’ve ran mid grade and regular before. I’ve been tuned for over 40k miles on 2 separate civics. Hondata and ktuner individually.

put the car in Econ mode if you have that dual tune.

Out of pure luck I was covered under warranty, he was quite young at the time and so was I, will never lend my vehicle again thats for sure.

I am proud to be one of the (not-so) lucky few that are a part of the failed engine thread on @gtman 's reliability survey! ?

As others have said, if you can go back to stock. If you cant 87 is fine you just have to really baby the car. Im talking grandma is in the back seat holding a pot of chilly. I had to run 87 in my MR2 back in the day a few times.
