Anyone have the 2.0l run the ktuner W 87? Wondering if it’s still a significant difference with the factory map that ktuner has compatible with 87 .

I think with the ktuner it’s high octane only

According to the KTuner info pages, you can run 87. The problem is, you will minimize the power gains. So, sure 87 is more economical but you are minimizing the purpose of a tune.

Not sure why anyone would consider spending $450-$650 in order to tune your ecu, but balk over spending an extra $3 on a tank of gas to run premium fuel.

What if it were mid grade fuel like 89 / 91 instead of 93? Would the car be noticeable like going from drive to sport? Just a curious question

I still don’t understand this. I had a tune in my truck that would ask if you wanted the high octane tune or regular octane tune. The ktuner for the civic is one tune. So it should be tuned for one or the other. I’m assuming it’s tuned for regular since it says you can use regular. Because I know that if it was tuned for high octane it would run horribly if you tried running regular in it. And it’s not so much about the money because an extra couple of bucks is nothing to pay for some extra power. But it’s pointless to pay if you are getting zero extra power.

Why would you tune a car for 87octane makes no sense
Exactly! But obviously ktuner’s tune is for 87. Because if it was for high octane they would say “premium fuel only”. Instead it says “for best results”. So according to ktuner you can use either. So that means it’s tuned for 87.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. My guess is Ktuner's dyno results are actually on 91 octane. 87 is do-able but with reduced power output.

Hopefully JR can chime in.

I specifically asked ktuner support which octane is required with their tune in an email. This is what I got back from them. The reasoning I got was true with any tune, including the factory tune.
Honda Civic 10th gen Ktuner 2.0l on 87 octane D15EEB06-65D9-4E41-8631-7E13FAD1F5FE
