Hello,

I'm looking into purchasing a set of Konig Dekagram for my 2019 Hatchback LX. I'm no expert in calculating and figuring out wheel tire and size so I could use some advice on what will fit best. I have done a few days of research but I could use some expert opinions on my options. I am not looking into doing any other modifications at the moment, so I just want to get the dimensions as close to OEM as possible.

According to www.wheel-size.com the OE specs are 215/55/R16x7 ET45.
The recommended tire alternative on there for a 17" rim is 225/45/R17x8 ET46 (-1.3% error).
An optional alternative that I'm looking at as well is 235/45/R17x8 ET45 (0% error)

I'm looking to buy from https://pmctire.com/en/wheels/konig...agram-bronze-17x8-5x114-3-73-1-deport-40.tire but because it's 40mm offset, I'm guessing this is not an ideal measurement? Will this cause some serious issues with rubbing into other parts? Should I be looking elsewhere to see if the Dekagram has a 45mm offset?

The Hypergram here https://pmctire.com/en/wheels/konig...rgram-bronze-17x8-5x114-3-73-1-deport-45.tire will be a perfect fit if I get 235/45 tires, is this correct?

Some stupid questions, but I want to make sure I have everything correct before I commit to purchasing. Anything else I'm missing?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Sket, how about 18” with just 0.4% error? This is also the Si 18” oem spec. I came from 17” to 18”, and from overall look and feel, 18” is really on the sweet spot.

Unless you are lowered (or are going to lower the car in the future), the 40mm offset should NOT present any problems with rubbing.

I agree with GoldClass, that moving up to the 18" wheels, with a 235/40R18 tire would be an ideal set up. Even with the 18" wheels, you wouldn't have any rubbing problems.

I've got the Si (so it sits a little lower than the LX), with 20mm spacers up front, and 25mm spacers in the rear. This set up, on my stock wheels, yields a 30mm offset up front , and 25mm offset in the rear. I've got no rubbing, even with 3 adults, a child and full trunk.

Good luck with whatever wheels you choose ... I don't think you can go wrong with either of those wheels.

Thanks for this info with images as well! I did consider the 18" but the streets around here aren't very friendly on the bumps so I read that keeping the sidewall height higher will help increase comfort level. Also to cut down cost as well and save money for something else like a cold air intake :p

Thanks for your reply! it's good to know that there won't be any problems with rubbing, sounds like there's good room to play around with. I'm really choosing the 17" to save some money for something else to upgrade and for a bit more comfort on the bumpy rounds around here. These roads are not gonna get fixed any time soon!

So I contacted Fitment Industries today...asked them if 235/40R18 8" 45mm offset is a good choice for my 2019 Hatchback LX ...and they replied with

"According to our sources, that size wheel should be a good fit for your vehicle. We would recommend a 215/45R18 tire as the one you requested is aggressive and may not fit well. "

A lot of people have suggested 235/40R18 as an "ideal" option....but since Fitment seems like THE place to ask for advice...I'm kind of having a dilemma as to who to listen to o_O

Anyone else have hands-on experience with these two different sizes/measurements perhaps and can share how different they are?

Comparing 235/40R18 and 215/45R18;

- 235 is 20mm wider per corner than 215. That’s a total of 80mm more road contact which give you better road handling, cornering, braking distance, etc.
- 235/40R18 is 2.7% less comfortable than 215/45R18.
- 215/45R18 is 0.8% bigger in diameter than 235/40/R18 and is 1.2% bigger in diameter than the OE size. This will affect the acceleration and speedometer reading.
- Last but not least, 235/40R18 will put you more smile on your face.

If you keep the OE suspension system and NOT going for lowered spring down the road, go with 235/40/R18x8 ET35~ET40. ET30 will look more stance and will keep you smiling all the times.

How did you determine that the 235/40R18 is 2.7% less comfortable?

the 18's have enough sidewall to deal with bad roads. i drive around London and it's not harsh by any means. but yes, 17's will def save you money for sure and will be a bit more compliant. Post pics when you do it cause I'm looking at Dekagrams too down the road.
