I finally switched my rear facing car seat to be forward facing.

The strap that goes to the mount point on the trunk deck reallllllly squishes the rear headrest.

Did I install this right? There's no way to remove that head rest?

What do other people do about this?

Yeah I hate that. I use a nice thick hand towel and fold it into a square or rectangle and place it on top of the headrest. Hook over too and tighten as usual. Helps a whole lot, makes all the difference in the world.

Something i faced when i switched my son to forward facing. Unfortunately, it is what it is and yes, there will be a crease once you remove the belt.

Is the idea to spread the pressure more evenly across the cushion?

Curse Honda for not making this removable or putting a gap at the bottom!

i wonder if a piece of wood or plastic across the top would spread the load across the top of the headrest?

As someone else said, it is what it is. It's a design flaw for sure, and it'll look like shit by the time they're out of those seats (if I still have the car by then lol), but so be it in the name of safety for my kiddies.

Yes, you did that right and it's necessary. Don't worry, when your kids are a little older they'll trash your car a lot worse than that and you won't care. My 6 year old has a bike with a metal hand brakes, he's smacked that into the side of my car several times. :slap:
