I brought mine into the Honda dealership and it ended up being the BCM (Body Control Module). They covered it even though I was out of my warranty.Just started happening to mine 2017 si 27000 miles. started off with going to the car and it would be dead, now it happens instantly whenever I shut it off it turns on by itself to accessory mode with keyless start system problem
Nice, yeah seems like that’s what everyone here is having changed. Going to take it into the dealer this week and have them check that out I’ll update with what they findI brought mine into the Honda dealership and it ended up being the BCM (Body Control Module). This inconvenience - unfortunately is your best guard. I heard about a vulnerability back in 2017 in regards to the Gen 10 Civic 2016+Hi Jred721,
Yeah just the electronics turn on by itself. It occurs both when I am in the vehicle, and when no keys are in the vehicle.
Several times I will go to my car and the system will be on, or the car will be dead and have to be jumped from being on without
me knowing. I'm currently disconnecting the battery.
The BCM, stands for "Board Control Module" - similar to a PC desktop's motherboard?Anyone with these issues - please take your car to a Honda dealership, show them this thread if you must, and they should be willing to keep your car for a few days to "diagnose" it. (i.e. wait for it to go bonkers)
My situation, I communicated with the dealer about what the car was doing. They agreed to keep the car for a few days to see if they found issues. (It is under warranty, after all) They were nice enough to give me a loaner CRV in the meantime.
Honda had the car for less than 36 hours when the alarm started going off in the middle of a Sunday. Service managers were called in and that's when they actively started trying to figure the car out.
Bottom line, especially if your car is still under warranty, take your car to the dealership and don't accept receipt of your car until they replace the BCM.
At first they didn’t really think it was the bcm until I told them about this thread and talked to one of the techs, the guys at the front were swearing I wasn’t putting it in park or had a spare key somewhere in the vehicle. Told them to go outside and try to put my car in park when they seen it’s a manual they got quiet real quick and got a technicianAwesome. Seems like this issue on the 17 Si's is almost becoming common knowledge for the dealerships.
With any luck, Honda will create a recall on this model year.
