I wonder if that would be a good setup for DD
My feeling is that it would not - at least not relative to the low end torque that you're used to stock. I'd imagine that it would feel much closer to the power curve of a boosted 8th gen K20 - awesome if you live above 4500 RPM, and somewhat lethargic below that.

EDIT: the post below is somewhat old. I believe that he's shifted the power curve even further to the right now, while topping off at over 500 whp.

I have yet to see a type r crack 400whp
Well there are many FK2s making 400-500hp, and they use the same engine as the FK8.

So show me one pic of a L15 with carbon build up issues. If it's as sure of a thing as you make it seem, that would be

imo the aftermarket is just not there yet, with the FK8 to justify spending the money just to make big power. It will probably be more cost effective to buy an old eg, ek etc and make the 400+whp

Just got word today that USR is working on a full Type R port injection kit, including the necessary piggy back device. No commentary intended, just stating a neat fact. Should be interesting.

The older kseries are better engines for much more power. The l15b7 has an integrated exhaust port, direct injection, plastic intake manifold, and no vtec so it doesn’t rev high. I have a modded new si and a heavily modded k20a2 rsx. These new factory turbo motors are great for a cheap way to make 340+whp but if you want 500+ then build a kseries.
