This car is amazing. I’m trying to teach my son how to drive it. I kinda selfishly hope he doesn’t like it so I can have it and he can drive my truck.

Awesome car. Must be quite the son to earn that. Once he gets use to manual transmission he'll never want automatic again.

I was a pretty shitty/aggressive driver in my teens and early 20s. We use Life360 to monitor our 16yo's driving (speed and location) but he seems to be pretty responsible.

I have a friend that needed help with their 16 yo over-correcting and rolling a car and another friend's kid that is on his 3rd car while still in high school.
life 360 is great!

I learned in my '18 si. My BF and his friend taught me. but i will say it was easier to learn barefoot. you get a better feel for the peddles and shifting. I also had to drive on the parkway which was terrifying at first. But thanks to NY traffic it pushed me to learn faster and starting from first very quickly.

Haha ? it took me a few months. Stalling on the parkway was terrible.

I practed at a local mall parking lot. The cops came but and tried giving me tips lol. That way I could get used to starting on inclines and declines. The town I work in is super hilly. ?

gotcha

yeah, I told him not to go over 4K rpm for the first 600 miles

so far he’s not giving it enough gas

has only stalled a couple of times

I remember when I was learning I really struggled at first.

I think once he gets the hang of it he will love it and it will also make him concentrate more on his driving and less on distractions such as his smart phone.

I test drove It and was hoping not to like it but was blown away and the addition of Honda Sensing for 2020 sold me.
He's learning on one of the best first cars in my opinion. The safety features alone are great for him. That paired with being one of the easiest manuals to get used to and you have a solid 5-10 year car.

It doesn’t help that stalling this car feels absolutely terrible too. I think the direct injection fuel system makes it way more violent.

My first car was a 20 year-old Buick Skylark with 65,000 miles that cost $1,400 in today's dollars. It was mostly a gift from my grandparents. My second car was a 3 year-old Ford Escort that also ended up being a gift. My third car was a new Ford Tempo for which I was given a 10% down payment. The next 28 were my responsibility. :)

Good on you for doing that for your son. I was given a family hand-me-down 1983 Camaro Z28 that had been sitting in the garage for years. Got the hang of driving the manual easy enough, within the first weekend I was no longer stalling the car or having much trouble with hill starts. It was well broke in, but reliable for the most part.
*Not mine but same color, same year*
