I got a carbon version of the this type of grill a couple months back off of ebay. I went to install it last week only to look at the backside of it and realize it has *no* place to put the screws to attach it to the bumper. I messaged the seller and he said it was a "buckle installation". I literally have no idea what the hell he is talking about.

Most aftermarket have mounting brackets:

Yeah. I might be shit outta luck. My grill has none of those brackets at the bottom at all (the ones with the screw holes). The only thing the grill has are the tabs at the top. That sucks. That grill was $400.

After asking the seller what he meant by "buckle installation" this was his response. Ugh, might be a lost cause.

"
Hello there,
It means that "Snap installation". Just align the buckle to install, After the top of the grille is installed, put a small screw on the buckle to lock it.
Hope this can help you. "

For real. I guess I could buy the American Racing grill, cut the plastic screw holes off of it, and epoxy those tabs on the carbon grill. Jesus, this should not be this much of a headache.

The American Racing Grill is not the same with smaller opening. I guess you need to fabricate some L brackets with bondo to hold it down on the grill.

You better rebuild that vertical middle support, even with the factory middle support made out of PP it's weak af. I have to reinforce my vertical support with metal bracket to ensure the middle support stays in the right angle so that it won't collapse over time. Most people have gaps on the top of grill because the middle support is collapsed.

it’s been a while since i saw this again and sorry didn’t have the time to kinda help you out on your journey. feel sorry that you’ve got in my opinion a very bad fitment issue compare to mine that was nearly perfect fitment out of the box. here’s an idea though where to put the type r emblem which i got it from J’s shop car.

Sorry for digging this up from the grave, but what "type r" emblem did you use for this? Front or back? Getting my Js grille today and love this look.

Congrats on the new grill. J’s Racing also sells the center badge holder and the Type R emblem that sandwiches to the grill mesh itself.
