Hoping some of the wheel/tire guru's can help.

Would I be OK with a +45 offset 18 X 8.0 wheel and 245/40/18?

Mostly I am curious about the wheel width - most people seem to talk about 8.5-9.5 so I am wondering if 8.0 is OK.

Thanks!

Also curious, might try and run my DWS06 and just not drive it as much as possible.... but still leaning towards 18" Winters myself.

18x8 can be ran without issues. Anything over 8 wide rated for ice and snow will be ludicrously expensive, so it's just not worth it.

The other thing I can't make up my mind about is tire size. All 3 of these fit:

245/40R18
225/45R18
235/45R18

I was thinking of splitting the middle with the 235's or just sticking with 245. Is there any major difference? I know taller = better winter performance and wider = better dry performance, but I don't want any rubbing and I am not sure how much real world difference there would be between the 3 sizes.

If you have stock suspension then you shouldn't have any issues with rubbing. I have (bad) pictures of my winter setup in another thread.

I am running 225/45/18 on an 18x8. I have 0 issues.

I run an 18x8 +42 with 245/40/18 Michelin PS AS4.

My winter set just came in from TireRack. It's 18x8 Sport Edition U2 wheels with Pirelli Sottozero 3 245/40s. Haven't put them on yet, of course, but they look pretty ok! +40 offset.

Haha. I created a similar thread for my setup, 18x8 with 40mm offset. I guess my question is answered! Is there a difference between the 2020's and the earlier Type R models? I know the brakes were upgraded, wondering if it will cause clearance issues

Generally, as far as I can tell, 18" wheels should clear the calipers fine. I was running 18" wheels on my Audi S5, and those calipers were ginormous.

But offset is what really matters, you can run a 18" wheel, but if the offset is too low it won't clear. That's why I was concerned about running 18x8 32mm offset so I ordered 40mm offset instead

I think the offset is what matters more on our cars for caliper clearance. Almost any 18" rim should clear it height-wise.

Stock offset is +60, correct? I have seen it listed as "50-60" which has confused me in the past.
