Finally changed oil myself today rather than taking it to the dealership. While I was under there I snapped a few pics and was wondering if this was anything I needed to worry about? I live in PA, so salt and snow are a thing, but just wanted to know if I should be concerned or get it looked into before it gets any worse. 2017 Civic Si Coupe @ 18,500k mi. I try to keep everything clean, but salt in winter here sucks. Just a little sad seeing a whole different car from below I guess.

E-Coating on mig welds is always compromised, similar for weld nuts where the weld process removes the galvaneal on the substrate. Nothing serious but you can slow it down by shooting some white lithium grease on those areas when you have cover down during servicing. The service rusting on the shaft won't impact functionality, just appearance.

The Company that supplies these subframes does extensive corrosion tests that simulate years and years of regular use, scratching them in a controlled way, and exposing them to jets of highly saline water for days and weeks on end, with drying cycles in between. Honda is very stringent when it comes to these tests.

It's normal and not worrisome at this point. Anybody who sees this as abnormal clearly doesn't live where road salt is used. In Canada it's popular to undercoat the car yearly with products such as rust check, krown or corrosion free. Use of any of those products will help a lot. I am sure there is something similar used in the US.

I wouldn't worry about the rust on the axle, but I might be concerned about the rust on the sub frame on a three year old car.
The metal on the control arm is thicker... and part is made by the same company as the subframe, and is made to go through the same tests.
