Mechanical sound.
Not so much on paint and body.

I tried to use OE touch up paint and things got worse.
Thought I could use dupli-color and touching up after sanding my mistakes.

Worst. Idea. Ever.

Any suggestions on sanding this smooth to wrap the hood? $300 compared to $1500 seems way more reasonable.

you are probably best off calling a junk yard and seeing if they have any hoods then get that one wrapped for $300
Most are going for $300
I found one in Dallas for $250 but has has some damage

I'd sand it with orbital and wet sand it and wrap it. Nothing to loose...

I know nothing about paint and body.
And this, well this is proof.

Great learning lesson tho
Gotta stay optimistic
What @Phy wanted to know is how you ended up having your hood in such condition. What went wrong?

Went to fix rock chips and minor scratches using Honda touch up paint. The paint didn't dry smoothly and I had uneven layers where I painted. Tried compound, didn't work. So I wet sanded the high marks, sanded too much and got burn marks.
I tried to sand around the holes, fill with primer, sanded more, used dupli-color paint code hoping it would look the same - definitely not. Used dupli-color clear coat. Went sand 3000 grit, and this was my final result.
Again, I have no clue what I'm doing when it comes to paint.

At this point, take the hood off, sand it down to primer, and take it to a shop and pay them, or get a shop to wrap it once it's all smoothed out.

Is sanding something I can do at home?
A friend said he'll charge $300 for a wrap...

Or should I save the $300 and put it towards a Seibon Carbon Fiber Hood- $700?

If I get the Seibon hood, is it worth getting the fenders as well? $725 - personally I don't like the mix-matched colors

And I eventually want to repaint the car to OE modern grey (whatever it's called) or wrap it in matte grey.

If the hood is gloss, then the rest of the car should be as well, same with matte. But idk what the carbon fiber hood would look like on either matte or OE paint

Crazy how a $10 fix turns into $700+

You can sand it at home, the point is you want it smooth for paint or vinyl. Or buy a new hood, up to you.
