Another point worth making is that the stock brake pads generate an insane amount of brake dust. I recently changed to Akebono pads and I'm cleaning the wheels much less frequently. I use Adam's Wheel Cleaner and two brushes, and it's pretty easy. I like the Adam's cleaner because it turns purple when it's working so you know when to rinse.

I use P&S brake buster,
https://www.amazon.com/Detailing-Products-N26-Non-Acid-Cleaner/dp/B07RTZBGWX

Its a wheel and tire cleaner, foams up well with agitation and foam well in foam canon.

Its safe on paint, ceramic coated wheels and anything you can think of.
Non-acidic and non corrosive so it mimics the cleaning power of other brake dust cleaner but is not as corrosive. Works great, but with any cleaner you have to agitate, detail brush, and lambskin mit. And then wheel brush for inside of wheel barrels.
Works great for cleaning tires too.

All your car wahsing needs in one place, this guy knows his stuff and does lots of research, everything on his store is safe for all paints, and ceramic coatings.

you have to agitate unfortunately

the good news is that if you agitate. you can pretty much use anything

i use an apc as my wheel cleaner

i use an ez detail brush to hit the barrels

i use a detailing brush and mitt to hit the face

i use a stiff bristle brush to get the tires

I've never come across a "no touch" wheel cleaner that didn't require some touching.

Brake dust is the curse that comes with ownership of a type R, I guess.

No wheel cleaner really "works" without agitation. Especially with the way the CTR dusts. I use P&S Brake Buster currently.

I just washed mine this weekend... I've only gone through touchless carwashes in the past, and never hand-washed them for the duration of ownership. I cleaned the wheels in the following sequence:
  1. pressure wash,
  2. soap with brush,
  3. pressure wash to rinse,
  4. sonax and let sit for 5 minutes,
  5. agitated with brush,
  6. pressure wash
Wheels are like new now, and ready for ceramic coating.

Might sound crazy, but I wipe down my wheels with wet rag every night once I have it in the garage. Makes it much easier to clean the wheels, when I wash the car and I end up wasting fewer rags.
