Long story short, I’m looking at possibly purchasing a polished metal metallic CTR at a dealer in California. I know in the past there used to be such a thing as California emissions. Is there still such a thing? Are they any other differences also? Thanks for the info in advance!

Yes there is according to the DMV and it should have a CA emission label somewhere. Shouldn't matter to you though if out of state. Coming into the state is where the regulations come into play.

So does that mean that it has more restrictions on the exhaust that could also affect sound and performance?

No. Should be us50 legal otherwise people would have to get their cars modified when they buy out of state

The CTR is Tier3 Bin125 / LEV3-ULEV125 emissions compliant and is therefore 50 state compliant. No differences between a CA car and anywhere else.

OP, why buy the car in California?
Buyers in California were going out of state due to mark-ups.
