Hello.

What is the best way to remove leftover insect stains on the hatch grill? I've tried scrubbing it with microfiber towel as hard as I could (putting my nail in between the fiber and try to scratch it away) but it won't come off. I've recently come back from a 1300 mile road trip and the front part of the car was basically a graveyard for insects. Headlamps and the grill are the ones that I can't get clean completely.

Help please!

I wouldn't recommend using the current method you are - it will damage the material (scratches and more!)
Use a dedicated bug remover, and a bug remover wash pad. Griots Garage makes a great one.

If that doesn't work, they may be etched into the surface and will require polishing.

Once you get it cleaned up, I suggest using a ceramic coating to help keep the bugs from sticking to the plastic in the future. The coating really helps keep things from embedding into surfaces.

I would try some chrome polish if you want to buy something specific, I used a little Meguiars Scratch X as I was touching up the paint and it took the spots right off and didn't damage the grill.
