One of the things we were able to determine when we did our MoTeC development for the platform are the size of the injectors used on the vehicle.
Now injector size/flow is relative to fuel pressure -- this is nothing new and works the same way on a port injected motor. So how "big" are the injectors on the D/I motors?
At 10MPa of fuel pressure (1450psi): 900cc/min
At 20MPa of fuel pressure (2900psi): 1270cc/min
At 4MPa of fuel pressure (580psi): 570cc/min
What's this in "normal" terms at something like typical lift pump pressure (fuel pressure by the pump provided in the gas tank). On most Honda's this is about 54psi.
Which makes the injectors: 170cc/min
So not seemingly very large, right? Amazing what happens when fuel pressure is in the thousands of PSI
