So glad to hear that people still have functioning brains and don't just patronize evil corporations
The fucked up thing is, last year, when we couldn’t get stuff at all and I was on the clock to finish, I couldn’t wait two weeks for a part so I had to use my dealer.
They knew it and fucked me even harder. Probably waste $200 on bullshit for no reason other than I had to.
It’s too bad because I am all for using local businesses and tried too but they made it impossible.
But….. in a jam…. They get parts in 24 hours usually.

Oh i know, that is why theres a special spot in hell for everyone that took advantage of anyone for personal gain. I hope they spend all their profits on hospital bills

Other than warranty work, I’ve never gone back to the dealer where I bought my car from an never plan to. Especially in this day with stupid car prices an supply an demand. they know they got the consumer by the balls now more than ever an it shows.

Few months back I was in the dealership an one of the goons was saying how he had a customer that was looking for my exact car an willing to pay, I said sure let me get that 23 si you got over there at msrp an well talk. His face instantly said nvm

while actually currently working at a Honda dealership I wouldn’t trust them, I’ve heard horror stories about sales people adding hidden warranties and getting legal issues over it, I’ve had one of my friends get an oil change and fluid top off, where the advisors told him specifically they topped off the coolant, and ended up stripping his bottom skid plate bolts and not filling the coolant at all, in his 2023 civic ex, if you get a service done or are getting a new car, make sure to read and check everything out, don’t assume they did what they told you or wrote to you, techs can be lazy and advisors greedy, just be cautious and always make sure to check and take the car back if it wasn’t done right

I wouldn't trust them cause a lot of the time it doesn't seem like they really know what they're talking about. My friend recently took his 2018 Si to get inspected at a dealership and they failed him for having a fog light out and tried charging him $200+ for a whole fog light housing cause they said they can't just replace the bulb because it's LED, the whole housing needs to be changed. I told them you can't fail for a fog light being out cause it's an optional feature that isn't required to be turned on for safe operation, and the bulb can be replaced because we're the ones that put the LEDs in there. Basically he won't be going to the dealership for anything again

17yrs as a Honda dealership tech, I could write you a full novel of reasons why you should actually go to the dealership for service and parts. But if you just want to vent about incompetency in the workforce, think of your own job. How many idiots do you work with? Picture them now. Yeah. That's every job. The dealership is no different from the independent shop or the autozone or the restaurant down the street. There are morons and people with low morals in every aspect of life, so hold on to the good ones you find.

But sales dept.....sales dept are scheming @ssholes and the ability for a customer to purchase direct from Honda should be implemented immediately.

I can't say I've ever gone to a dealership for any type of service other than buying.

Short ansswer: No. Longer answer: fuck no.

Those morons screwed up an oil change on my Honda Element, lied about changing the battery in my Civic, and overcharged me substantially for a valve adjustment that they didn't even bother changing the valve cover gasket on.

Unless I have no other options, the dealership never sees my vehicles.

As the title states, how many actually trust their dealership to perform any kind of services?
I say there is no issue with using them for large repairs, or if you don't like doing oil changes and other normal maintenance. I feel as there is really no downside, you pay more, but it comes with security and assurance. They mess up the repair, they fix it. You or some mom n pop mess it up you are sol. Main thing is the warranty, if it is still in tact, keep it that way.

If they cant do it right the first time why would you ever trust them to “fix their mistake”
To each their own but I believe first impressions. You only work on in this case Hondas and you mean to tell me you cant figure out how to put the drain plug back in right, or the skid plate? That just screams carelessness and the fact that you are busy is no excuse because that just says fuck the customer what Im worried about is “quantity over quality”
Now about large repairs yes you get sucked into the warranty game but most of the time like stated on this forum people with the condenser or whatever else issue surrounding the A/C they will say that one part is covered but in order to do that we must repair parts that are not covered bla bla bla.

Being lazy to perform basic maintenance on your own vehicle but claiming that you are “tuner”or tuning your vehicle to make it faster leaves me dumbfounded…

I do. Never had an issue. Always have felt the were being straight forward with me on the issue and solution. Car has aways came away fixed and stayed fixed.

Sure they try to up-sell with additional services, after all they are a for-profit identity, however they have always been fine with my just saying no thanks.

Woah I thought this is asking for opinions. Me personally my car hasn’t hasn’t touched a dealership or shop since the day it left the first time except for alignments. Now I work at a dealer, not a Honda, but majority of customers do not have any issues. The loud minority will always be heard over the quiet majority. Overall there isn’t much to deter one from the dealer. Now there are plenty of bad cases but those do not come close to the amount of people who will never have an issue.

now the response was not necessary and you have to grow up. I said some don’t want to do service, not me, once again my car hasn’t touched a shop for anything else but alignments. You asked for peoples opinions I gave mine and then I you went off about it grow up man.

Now that isn’t me saying dealers aren’t at fault for the issues that are present, and that the dealers are perfect. They function just like any other business. There is a chance that there will be mistakes that happen, or maybe someone has a horrible experience but that happens anywhere. It’s only the biggest issue because it’s the most common place people take their cars to. Now working at a dealer, I can say one thing, (I’m not saying that all dealers function the same way) but my dealer has the biggest and most successful service dept in the state for the brand I work for. Whenever there is the typical mistake it’s taken care of. Now once again that’s not speaking for every dealer. But then again the question was asking for our take so regardless nothing I said demanded that response. Based on experiences from family and friends who take their cars to dealers, no issue, and that’s majority of my family and friends. Not a single issue. Remember the question was based on our experiences and asking for our opinions. Poor response.
