how long does a Honda Civic battery usually last? Is it covered under the powertrain warranty?

My 2017 Honda Civic EX-T's battery is about to die. It's only been 3 and 1/2 years and it seems it has a shorter lifespan compared to my previous 2015 Honda Civic SE (changed battery after 4.5 years) and 2008 Nissan Sentra (changed battery after 6 years). I wonder why and if the battery is covered under the powertrain warranty? Thanks.

Battery is never covered on any car. Don’t expect much from a r52 sized battery, especially with all the bells and whistles in these civics.

In warmer area battery life is shorter. California is very hot this year

I just replaced mine yesterday. Mine died on me after keeping it in the "On" position listening to music for 5min! I replaced it with one from Costco which I read is pretty good and great warranty. I just did a video on it and mentioned it if you're interested.

The batteries in 10th gen Civics for some reason are notoriously weak and prone to dying out in even as soon as 1-2 years. A typical automotive battery should give you around 4-5 years, so it sucks to see that Honda put an undersized battery in these cars. Luckily mine's been good so far, hopefully it doesn't die in a bad scenario.

Mine died in under 2 years. I replaced it with a 5 year one. Don't want to be stranded 20 miles from home again. Grrr that was frustrating, trying to track someone down with jumper cables in a shady area. :-/

Are Honda made in Canada different or are we lucky with our 2016 and 2018 Civics with the original batteries?

Was told mine was close to dying after 3.5 years, paid about $100 from the dealer for a new one with a new 3 yr 36 month 100% replacement guarantee, and every year after 3 I get a percentage back on a replacement prorated, pretty great deal to me
