I learn the hard way, and scratch the hell out of it after trying some plastic X and a foam pad to polish the swirl marks. I just make it look worse i change the lense on my gauge cluster. And Experimented with old lense what method would not get scratches on my new lense. So what I use to clean on my New lenses once in a while is a Microfiber Cleaning Cloth for camera Lenses or Glasses but first i Damp it with some Novus #1 cleaning ans Shine Solution and start cleaning from One direction to another, It keeps my Gauge cluster Clean and scratch free no swirls, no even looking thru direct sunlight. You should try it. I also use a dust can when i clean my car to avoid cleaning the gauge cluster often. The Novus #1 keeps dust off from surfaces
