So close...it was 0 degrees at 2:30 and now it is -2...next chance to get above zero will be tomorrow afternoon....didn't phase the civic, but it was in an (unheated) garage for most of the cold....and it is handling the cold way better than I am.
Finally, after 4-5 days below 0 Fahrenheit , we cracked the 0 barrier and it is a balmy 10 above...Woot!

I haven't had any cold start issues in MN. My windshield fluid is frozen though, so, I don't know what kind of fluid was used from the factory.
Original windshield washer is in "my" Civic .Car sleep inside so I don't know if it can freeze. I guess not 'cause in Canada it might be different product. Th one sell in store is good to -12 F

I am sure at least in Canada, the dealerships would put in winter windshield washer. If the washer reservoir freezes and cracks, they are responsible.

I don't see many cars fail to start from -20C, unless they have a weak battery. The cold exposes it once batteries get weak.
If the car stay in the cold for a couple of days without starting, it will have a harder time starting after that.
A lot of people in the city doesn't use their car everyday. It could be why.

I think you are getting the frigid arctic weather we had in the midwest for the past week...hopefully it won't stay as long for you as it did here. The civic handled it way better than me...lol.

I work nights on the weekends at a casino, so my SI was parked outside for 8 hours while it was -18 degrees out. Started up like a champ. Starter had to hold for an extra count or two, but I had no problem.

What about using ebrake when parking? Still use if temp in single digits? (Drove today and will drive tomorrow)
Best to leave e-brake off if you've driven in wet or snow or slush if it's going to get very much below freezing and you park outside.
Even Honda recommends just cutting the wheel and NOT using the e-brake in freezing conditions (ref p 536)

Just got back from a New Years road trip. Started the trip at 5am. My Civic is parked outside overnight (no block heater, no garage). Even at -31C, when I turned the key it started up with no hesitation -- it turned over maybe twice.

So far I've been reasonably happy with the CivicX in the winter. Temperature-wise, I feel like it starts to warm up on the inside very quickly, especially given how small the engine is. However it seems to take a while to "thaw out" -- to have things warm enough that the windows stay clear of frost, that you can use the wipers without smearing ice across the windshield, etc.

Really wish that Honda had included a front wiper de-icer on the Civic; I find the wipers can accumulate ice when it's snowing. I think that and the weak low beams are my only complaints so far though.

New Car 600 miles on it ... blizzard is currently in full force and quite frankly I want nothing to do with driving at all (work from home)

Is it ok to not start up for a day or 2? It’s going to hit below 0 on Saturday so I’m definitely trying to take it out at some point tomorrow and definitely Saturday / Sunday morning

Likely it's the thicker acoustic glass that takes longer to heat from the inside.

The car will turn into a pumpkin if it is not started every 2 days.

We leave both our Civics ('98 EX & '12 Si) "resting" for days at a time in the sub-zero (fahrenheit) and never have had an issue starting.

@rraayy3 Over New Years my car sat from Saturday night till Tuesday afternoon without being turned over. Temp was -5 when I parked it (outside) temps fell to -20 both Sunday and Monday morning and it started no problem on Tuesday when it was a balmy 8 degrees. I think you'll be ok.
