@Old F@rt I checked and there are presently 176 Si coupes for sale on Auto Trader and 122 of those have less than 75k miles. I also redid the math on my son’s age and when it will be time to buy the car and it’s actually three and a half years, not five. I am most certain that I’ll be able to find a car at that time. I’ll fly to it and drive it back if necessary, I’ve done that before. Serious car collectors do this kind of thing all of the time. Stop being such of a negative nanny.

Negative no, realistic absolutely. So out of the Si Coupes you found listed, how many do you think have been tuned/ thrashed? Of course you won't know, as the cars are reverted back to stock for sale. You'll find that out later, once you bought it. Let me know how many you find in what was it 3 1/2 years?
If you're a serious car collector, then go buy the car now & sit on it. Stop dreaming.

Stop dreaming? Never. When I was 16 and walked to work and saved for a car that I bought 2 years later that was realistic. I knew what car I wanted, saved and bought it years later. It was possible then and it is possible now.

Yes, of course I will test drive it and am experienced enough to know what to expect in it. You let me worry about my time schedule, finances and purchases. I can handle my own.

I bought a sales brochure, both to learn more about the car that I will buy and also for my collection of things to show at the car meet.

When I get it next week I’ll make some better scans of it and post them for everyone. I’m also seeking an HFP brochure to buy.

There is also an original Civic Si HFP coupe near me with 18,000 miles on it that I will go take a look at it. I’m excited to see one in person but it’s too soon to buy it plus it’s black and we want something bright or white.

I have to chime in here. OP ... first of all cool that you think the Si Coupe is an awesome car. But just like @Old F@rt I'm just as perplexed as he is in how you're approaching this. His point about used Si's likely being abused and/or tuned wasn't him giving you a hard time, he was giving you smart advice.

But hey, do what you do, stock up on parts and accessories and good luck in a few years when you do buy the car to go with those parts and accessories. Me I do it backwards apparently. I buy a car and then mod it after purchasing it.

News flash: Most wouldn't consider an Si a real "collector's car".

Not really my place to chime in here but I have to agree with @gtman. It is really odd to start stockpiling parts for a car you're only planning on buying in 3.5 years, you've never even driven or owned but so it is quite odd and backwards.

No, it’s real. Here is a link to the Civic Si HFP that I will test drive tomorrow and pictures of the one that I have test driven already. My son is 12 and I was going to wait until he was 16 but decided to get it when he is 15, both because of the timeline of his age and my budget. I’m in no way trying to say that any Civic is a classic collector car but for a teenager it means a lot to him.

Cool... i wouldn't be getting my teenager a nice sporty car for the first car they are going to learn to drive (and park) on... but I do appreciate the forward thinking of it all... I eventually thing my current 9yr old daughter will get my Si.... unless i put it into a wall at a track first..

I’m with the old fart buy the vehicle first, new parts will always be available. This will give you guys time to enjoy the car together and properly learn how to drive a six speed. My daughter was 12 when she climbed behind the wheel of my G35 sport with a six.

Personally, I think that’s a great deal for the mileage. I’d also point out most people that buy coupes are young and aren’t very diligent

I bought my son a new 2015 FiT when he was 13 and enjoyed driving it for 3 years
