Here's the quote from Hyannis. College Hills Honda in Ohio is slightly cheaper ($1020 for D82).

I am curious. I went to their site to see what is covered. I don't see anything specifically regarding the electronics, computer/infotainment center. Am I missing it or is it not covered? One other question, how long do you have after you purchase your Civic to purchase HondaCare? TIA

• Genuine Honda Electronic/Audio Accessories
• Factory-Installed Navigational and Security Systems

For that pricing, the service contract must be purchased before the 6k mark.

How do you prove to the dealer when purchasing the extended warranty (say from Hyannis Honda where I'm not local) that you are under the 6000 mile mark?

I can't imagine there actually being a way for you to prove it. They simply ask for mileage when you request the quote from them (Saccucci). They don't ask for actual proof, at least not from me since I bought the service contract a month after I purchased my car. But, the contract claim has to be processed through Honda Financial. So if you took your car in for service at 6,001 miles, Honda will know about it since they mark down the mileage every time you go in for any type of service.

It's basically on the "honor" system- whatever company you choose- if out of state- they'll usually just ask your current mileage/date of purchase/plan you want, etc.

It looks like you can't buy from Hyannis in California, however Saccucci is ok. I read at some of the above comments and I sure hope it covers the android/apply car play and such.

I got the 8y/120k extended warranty from CollegeHillsHonda for $1020(no tax). sales tax only for ohio residents. They can sell to every state except Florida. I pulled the trigger because of all the tech involved in Honda Sensing. However, I was wondering about the coverage for infotainment system and the center console. The contract specifically states that "..; console; ...; electronic/audio accessories;.. " are not covered. Any idea or experience about these?

I'm kind of confused on why even bother with the extended warranty?

I asked saccucci and they said even the LED headlights aren't covered.
Last year, I was told by Honda Care directly (not the selling dealer), that LED lighting was covered because it is designed to last the lifetime of the vehicle and is not a user-replaceable or maintenance item. Incandescent bulbs aren't covered because they're consumable items like brake pads, tires, and batteries.

Both of you make valid points. LED lights may not be too expensive to replace, however the CVT could be very costly.
The MSRP for one Civic LED headlight is currently $671.88. I've seen some models as high as $2,500. That's a lot cheaper than a new transmission, but a lot more expensive than a $10 halogen bulb.

Since my dealer offer free lifetime powertrain warranty, should i even consider Honda Care? thx.
"Lifetime" often refers to the lifetime of the selling dealer. When the selling dealer changes ownership, that warranty ends.

my biggest concern about buying the warranty is this:

I plan to replace my EX-Ls headlights with the sport tourings OEM headlights for the LEDs if they are a perfect fit and its just a matter of purchasing them. I don't want to do anything to void any warranty.
The act of replacing the headlights won't void any warranties. However, any damage that is a result of replacing the headlights won't be covered. The warranty (factory or Honda Care) only covers equipment that was original to the vehicle from the factory and genuine Honda accessories that were installed at or before the time of purchase. If you install Touring headlights on an EX-L, they will not be covered since they don't belong on an EX-L. Replacement Honda parts that are purchased from and installed by the dealer are warranted for one year (parts and labor). There is no warranty if you installed them yourself. The dealer will not install Touring headlights on an EX-L, since the EX-L wasn't originally equipped with them.

My understanding is that there is no easy and direct route to replace the non-LED lights (non-Touring) with LED lights (Touring), so I don't think i'd be applicable. Your only concern would be if you do something like that and fry the electrical system which probably wouldn't be covered.

In "99.99%" of the time a Honda Dealership offers a non Honda lifetime limited powertrain warranty that's good nationwide- it's good- for as long as the original owner has possession of it.

It's a nice gesture in Automotive world- but has meaninglessness value- if you asked for $ credit for something better- the dealership would say no- since the dealerships that offer this free "promo" while some others in the area- might not- but if you got rid of the car within 3 years (like you usually do and some other people do) and let's say you figured the free promo of lifetime was worth a Ben Franklin or two more- not a wise investment.

Here is a common example of that 0.01% of the time that represents an exception to your statement...

This the Lifetime Limited Powertrain Warranty that came with the 2017 Ridgeline I bought last year from Jack O' Diamonds Honda. This warranty is good nationwide - not just at the selling dealer, but all claims must be approved by the administrator. Notice that the dealer is the administrator of this warranty. When the dealership changes names due to new ownership or reorganization, the warranty becomes void.

So true- as I mentioned- it's an okay promo of meaninglessness value- so if and hopefully you don't need it and if you do and in your case- your place of purchase stays in business or doesn't get bought out- Happy 4th of July!
