A few more pics. I used the vampire taps. Also shows using eBay 5 wire pigtail available.

Well worth it. I had the paint, so was about a $50 project.

Thanks for the thread help!

Color isn't *exact* but for $350 savings vs a dealer installed on a part no one sees and is constantly shaded, it passes my OCD/cheapness ratio scale.

Appreciate the update with that connector info, good stuff.

The Homelink is among the cleanest installs, esp. if you don't want to modify your car, but I have always hated the "reach UP to press the button" nature of these things... whether that's the overhead Homelink roof console or the Homelink mirror.

Instead I installed this Genlink on the left side of my driver console.
Much prefer this motion to reach that way and press the button...
Leaves my right hand free to be shifting too.

Takes a battery but you're only going to be changing it once every few years, so I hardly saw that as any bother. Appreciate it won' t be everyone's preference but FYI ...

If one was bothered about overhead like me, one could probably also take your Homelink mod and just install the module on the left side with a little creativity...

Saw that. Only thing I was worried about was the fitment. I guess you could figure out the button pinouts and rewire to a OEM switch.

Got 3 wires crimped on. 4th wire is in the car hooked up to a switched ignition fuse slot.

Green - pin 5 - illumination (-)
Black - pin 4 - ground
Yellow - pin 2 - illumination (+)
Blue - pin 1 - 12v (+)
