Hope your wife is ok, terrible thing to happen. Why is your insurance company telling you what to do when: 1) The other driver is at fault 2) The other driver's insurance company should be picking up the tab. Even with the best repair job, that car will *never* drive the same again. Our insurance company wants to just repair the car and I feel like we are getting screwed.
So she is injured which means you qualify for a free referral, here is the link for your state https://isb.idaho.gov/general/findattorney.htmlJust dealing with some bruising and whip lash. We will definitely be getting in touch with a lawyer. Was shocked when I found out the damage was $15,000 and they weren't going to total it.
she was taken to the hospital in an ambulance because they were initially worried about neck injuries. She had a medical exam done so everything is documented. Thank you so much I appreciate all the help.So she is injured which means you qualify for a free referral, here is the link for your state https://isb.idaho.gov/general/findattorney.html
Also, for the injury, she will need a comprehensive medical exam to make sure that the nature & extent of her injuries are fully documented by the hospital. This is very important, if you have to go to court against the defendant's (other driver) insurance company.
I was thinking it's more around 75% because the street value of the car is around 20ish grand instead of the 22,500 when we bought. Idaho uses the total loss formula which in this case I was almost certain we applied to and the car would be totaled. I asked our agent if they had done a tear-down yet knowing it would most likely add more to the repair and she was not sure and just said it won't be over 15k. The other party is using safeco insurance and I will probably get a lawyer involved when trying to receive diminished value.Unfortunately, that's only at 65%. It's not a total with most insurance companies. Did they do a tear-down yet? The repair could have many supplements which will push it closer to a total. I do not know what Idaho's laws are for totaling thresholds or if they have them. If you are not at fault, ask for diminished value from the other party insurance.
I work in the parts department actually and that was my first concern. Didn't even think about mentioning that as extra rental costs. I'll contact Honda and look into the parts/tear down. Thank you!Snacob, vehicle looks repairable w/ the pics. I would look at all vehicle value sites for your vehicle, and inquiry about if the vehicle was torn down, and the availability of parts. If parts are back-ordered, would rental costs total the vehicle? Things to think about.
Glad you are both fine! I just backed into a huge pick up truck whose front end was slightly into the lane of the shopping mall. Back bumper needs to be totally replaced. Trunk, back lights, and quarter panel are untouched. Not a scratch on the other guys tank - I mean truck. I will not go through my insurance so need to get body shop quotes for an Aegean Blue Touring back bumper.I work in the parts department actually and that was my first concern.
