Hi guys, update, I tapped it into one of the USB power wires instead. It works fine now. I bought a portable jump starter pack as a result of all this and now trying to figure out the subwoofer rattling issue, which I should maybe discuss in another thread.
So far I've installed lots of Noico sound deadening material all over the trunk, rear deck and all 4 doors. Also did the 4 Sorbothane rubber bumps on top of the rear deck. There's still a rattle somewhere, I suspect that infamous brake light housing. I'm going to try stuffing foam around it like everyone else has next.
