I had my car rust proofed and asked that they use more product than usual. In the extreme heat, some product (a black, tar-like goo) got onto the door sill, onto my pants and then onto the alcantara seat! It took me hours to remove from the doorsill (very clingy and sticky) and have no idea how to remove it from the seat material. Any hints/ideas?

Maybe try a steam cleaner. Walmart sells handheld ones for under $20. I've used it to remove stubborn 15+ year old window tint that was very tacky and in the end, it left no adhesive residue on the windows. It's less invasive with no chemicals since you only add water to it.

Considering it took hours to get it off of the sill, it might be worth it to find a local detailer and have them take a look at it as remove it from the seat.
