Head Unit Upgrade (CTR 2017)

Hey all,

I wanted to know if someone of you guys upgraded their Head Unit? I got a 2017 Type R GT and the only thing that still bothers me after some mods interior and exterior is the Head Unit, It's really a pain in the *** sometimes.

Can anyone recommend a Head Unit upgrade? Preferably a android based one. I saw also some threads with those chinese android 9" units, they seem to be great but as I saw the audio output doesn't seem to work on the "premium" 12 speaker soundsystem.

Hello i am from Luxembourg and i also have a type r gt.. i would like to upgrade my head unit but the conections bejind the head unit are a lot... i bouth a dasaita from aliexpress and it does not have enough conections...

so far I only see one discussion on this metra unit that they worked on 2016-2021 civics. Metra.
the problems is the unit doesn;t support some feature on the oem infotainment like disable rev match. Although, You can do maintenance renew like the factory one.
The system itself seems to keep update but not sure when they will fully support all of the factory setting in the type r.

I am using this brand and they support the factory amp. Need to mod one wire to get the backup camera to work. The system is running fast and good improvement on the sound quality.

Any Video for the head unit if possible. I'll like to see it in action, and does it retain all OEM function on the dash like reset TPMS or maintenance?

the rear view camera does seems terrible with a larger screen. I guess you can replace it with a better camera.
I do curious how to reboot on this unit like if you disconnect the battery and reconnect the oem Head unit will ask you to reboot using the volume key. I'm not sure if this one just automatically reboot. Any info for that?

With other units in typeR there was sound problem , so only problem with this unit is back camera at night ?

Honestly the best option might be to replace with the next headunit in the next Type R or from the Civic/Integra

I am running wireless android auto with this headunit, I believe it has wireless carplay as well

Currently, I'm using the Carlinkit wireless adapter. It works 'better' than wired...except...it doesn't always connect, but more often by far than stock, and the one REALLY irritating thing...every time you do a text, it advances to the next song, as well - regardless of how far into the other song you were. I guess there are pros & cons to everything.
